Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift

You should be able to run disc brakes on the Rally wheels and also 71-87 6-lug wheels. The only problem I've heard of are some Wheel Vintiques rims and possibly with some drop spindles. Otherwise you should be fine. Not sure if you tried it, but do a little searching to find out for sure. Check out the threads below.

The set-up that I have won't fit under 15's ( I got them from a friend ) If I was going to buy a kit I would have done my research and bought something that would fit. I already bought new tires & rims that should be in today !

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift

Do lifts normally settle after a little while? Seems like you gained almost four inches in the front, not sure whether that is because your old springs were sagging or if the new springs haven't settled yet.

I just purchased the Skyjacker 2.5" with the rear leafs for my 72. Your truck is absolutely beautiful, I was thinking of painting it blue with the white roof but it is tough to look at yours and not want to copy it!

It pushes the tires out too much past the fenders for me. They are original 15X8 drum-brake steel wheels with 3-nubs. Looks like I'm going to go with the 15X8 Rally wheels with 4" backspacing. Just sets the tires in a little more. I do like the lift though. The lift gave me about 3" more height with my original tires. With the new 33's, I get a total of about 5" over what I had originally.

My plan will be to blast and paint the rally wheels either white or body color. Feel free to voice opinions.

Does anyone know what the backspacing is on the 4-nub 15X8 steelies is? These are the wheels that can be used with disc brakes.

Thanks for all the pictures! I pulled the trigger on five CL 15 x 8 rallys the other night to replace my aging Centerline Hellcats (I'm not really a cast wheel guy on trucks). My wife suggested powder coat as my Fathers Day present since I'm generally too cheap to do it, but really like it. I really like the orange, but since I have a LWB with orange top I thought it would be too much on mine. I will post some pics when I get it all together with the new 33/12.50 15 BFG A/Ts (on a 4" lift). Between all your pics and Tx Firefighter's advice on powder coating you guys saved me a ton of time and money wondering which way to go. Thank you!

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift

Just a warning that you may get some minor bubbling out at the seam on the Rally wheels. You may want to ask the guy who does your powder coating about it. Mine warned me about it ahead of time. I solved it by using clear 3M self leveling seam sealer over it afterwards. It's a two part epoxy sealer that filled the gap nicely and will prevent any future rusting in that area over time. Unfortunately I don't have a close up picture of it after I installed it. If you want to see a picture I could get one after the weekend (Father's Day you know tomorrow ). Good luck and I can't wait to see the end results.

Thanks a lot. Nice work on the LS swap! In my next life I would love to do a 67 SWB with a LS. Never satisfied I guess.

Got my rallies back from powder coat. Only one of the five bubbled. My powder coated offered to strip and repair or discount. Being a frugal (wife says cheap) man, I tool the discount.

Well you know which one to use as a spare. They look good though. I'm looking forward to seeing how they look on your truck. Keep us posted. Lots of pics are always a nice thing.

Since I don't want to hijack your thread and since my caps and rings will be another project and so people can find a title like yours in a search for stance I will leave you with this sneak peak. No ring on rears and no center on either, but I like it better already! I've got some ideas for the rings and caps that I will include on another thread. Thanks again for the inspiration!

It's a 4" lift. Not the OP, his is on a 2 1/2.

Re: First look at my K10 with 2-1/2" Skyjacker lift

Thanks for keeping records with that height chart. I'm seeing an initial 3.5in lift in the front and 1.25in lift in the rear, is that correct? I'd be very surprised to get those numbers if I bought a 2.5in lift.
