800 cfm 2 barrel
I had given into my vice of FB marketplace, and found a 800 company 2 barrel. The gentleman also claimed to have a 750 one too.
Let's say I had a hotter 383 in my truck. Damn the mpg here. Is there any advantage or disadvantages to a 800cfm 2 barrel vs a 4 barrel? Or is this only for some class racing, or a sneaking street racer. |

About 40 years ago my dad had a 69-70 chevy truck with a 396 and a 2bbl carb for his plumbing work truck. That thing was a torque monster, and if I remember correctly it got decent mileage for what it was--might have been in the low teens like 13-14. Don't know what the CFM was on the GM 2 bbl though

In this case low rpm velocity in the 2bbL will be garbage and the engine will perform badly. High rpm/full throttle shouldn't be much difference.

IMHO, the 750-800 cfm 4 barell carb will show you way more
 I ran a 500 cfm Holley 2 barrel on my 383.....good tork, but done running @5500. The 3310, 750 would wing that little boich to 6500+ . You will have better tork & fuel economy with a 4 brl carb. Longhorn
