Steering column question, will it fit?
And I did search but couldn't find anything specific...
My stepdad has a tilt column out of an 88 chevy truck. My question is for Logan's 66, is it doable with little to no modification or is it way out there? Time and money are tight right now but it would be a cool modification for Logan to learn and do with my help... |

Re: Steering column question, will it fit?
I don't know how to link a thread but I'll just sum up my earlier post. The column can be done, it ain't gonna fit without custom bracketry and the e brake ratchet gizmo will not be easy to incorporate into your new bracketry. Also the wheel placement may end up too close to your chest. Having been down this road before, I would use an aftermarket column made for the application if I were to do it again. It is not an easy job if you like having a functional stock e brake handle.

We used a simalar column from a 91 burb, also the wiring harness and the fuse panel, along with the tbi 350. It made hooking all the electrical much easier (plug and play) worked great. here is a link to the mods to make it work with my 66 gmc. pictures 252 to 278.... quick view of column. http://kieth.smugmug.com/Trucks/66-GMC/i-wfdFZnk after viewing the first picture click on the thumbnails, they will take you through the mods to make the 91/88 column work. pictures 252 to 278 Kieth |
