Cowl hood

Hey guys, I'm looking for a 4" hood for a 67 c10. I've searched the forums already and still can't figure out what brand to go with. I was looking for some recent experience on purchases.. Thanks in advance!

Re: Cowl hood

Welcome to the forum!

I've used a Harwood cowl hood in the past on a '92 C1500. VERY nice fit & finish, no waves, never cracked and looked great. I think Regan Wilson is running a Harwood on his C10, he is in this section every now and then, you might hit him up.

Re: Cowl hood

I have a Harwood pin on. Fits right, looks right.
However not a fan of the 4" cowl it's almost too tall for me

Re: Cowl hood

I just put a TriPlus on my 72. The only issue was with the front corners where the skin welded to the bracing. It created a knife edge that made contact with grill before the stop lands contacted the stops. I used a pair of pliers and rolled the knife edge in for a perfect fit. I got many compliments on that hood at the Truck Nationals last week and it wasn't even painted yet. TriPlus packaged that hood a reinforced sealed cell foam protecting the corners, and edges. It was sealed in plastic, in a reinforced box inside another very thick full sized shipping box. I've used TriPlus fenders, inner fenders, rockers, cab corners, floor pans, etc. I've used other aftermarket sheet metal and after using TriPlus, I wont use anything else. Read post 13 http://www.67-72chevytrucks.com/vboa...d.php?t=243058 ...I bought mine here http://www.classicparts.com/Fender-H...oducts/318/3/0 ...Get the TriPlus part number for the hood you want and shop around, you may get a better deal. I go to KC pretty regularly so I saved the shipping costs by picking it up from Classic Parts. You can see in this pic where I bent/rolled the knife edge back for about 6" inches on each side of the leading edges of the front corners. Other than that, that hood fit better than expected and is reinforced better than the factory hoods. Hell, it got the old girl a second place trophy and wasn't even painted!
