04 Chevy 1500 A/C issue

Has the electronic panel with dual zone control. Driver side goes full heat sometimes. Can someone tell me the location of the actuator for the driver side?

Driver side is on top of the heater box.
You have to pull the dash cover and the duct that passes over the top of the heater box.

The passenger side is a lot easier. Just pull the beauty cover and the actuator motor is right on the bottom of the heater box.

Have you tried resetting the HVAC controller?

Hold it, I think the left (driver's side) temp actuator is the one on the bottom of the HVAC case. BTW, sometimes you can get the top temp. actuator off by removing the radio and reaching in. By all means try the reset first, that often fixes the problem.

Re: 04 Chevy 1500 A/C issue

03-07 AUTOMATIC HVAC with the digital display.
  1. Start the truck and set the HVAC controls to AUTO.
  2. Shut off the truck
  3. Pull the HVAC/ECAS fuse in the underhood fuse relay block.
  4. Leave the fuse out for 2 full minutes.
  5. Re-install the fuse.
  6. Start the truck and wait til the HVAC finishes calibrating all the motors. It'll take a couple minutes.
  7. Switch the truck off for full 15-20 seconds.
  8. Restart the truck and check that it works now.

Re: 04 Chevy 1500 A/C issue

Seemed ok until this morning. I've had it full cold. This morning I turned it to 70ish, then it went full hot on the driver side.

Re: 04 Chevy 1500 A/C issue

Just looked at the service books. I was incorrect. The RH blend motor is on top of the airbox.
The LH motor is on the bottom of the HVAC box under the beauty cover and it's darn easy to R&R.
I've read conflicting information. I trust GM.

Pull the heater fuse referenced above before you remove the motor and don't plug it back in til the new one is installed and you're ready to calibrate it.

Re-cal the system after you finish installing the motor.
