He's definitely rolling along. I caught him at the right time. It's back apart again, but he says maybe finished in two weeks.

He's in downtown Commerce, Ga. It is an old Chevy Dealership.

Re: 72 Jimmy "Colonel Mustard"

They finished blasting the firewall. While they were welding up the holes in the firewall, I had Jim incorporate the brake pedal assembly from the donor into the firewall and prep the firewall to accept the hydro boost assembly as a direct bolt on.

Re: 72 Jimmy "Colonel Mustard"

Had a chance to install the accessory bracket kit that I got from Dirty Dingo. Really nice kit by the way, would highly recommend it. Very well thought out.

Re: 72 Jimmy "Colonel Mustard"

Finished up the front & rear differentials. I replaced all of the bearings, seals, brake parts, u-joints, studs and a lot of the hardware. I coated everything I could with Por 15.

Re: 72 Jimmy "Colonel Mustard"

To mate the NP205 to the 4L80E, I bought a kit from advance adapters.
**

**
One of the steps is to cut down the tailshaft
***

**

**
Then I prepped the trans for paint. I used an aerosol from POR. It really laid down well.

Re: 72 Jimmy "Colonel Mustard"

Great progress, everything is looking very sharp. You are doing almost the exact same build as me just 100x faster! Curious, was it just easier to find a 2wd donor than a 4x and thats why you went with the c2500? Is all thats involved with converting it cutting the tail shaft just like the older transmissions? Also where did you order the gas pedal adapter plate?

Thanks. I ended up with the 2wd by accident. A friend gave me the donor truck, but when reading about the advance adapter kit, a lot of the 4wd transmissions do not have the reluctor ring inside the case as would be needed for the controller to operate the transmission properly. Here's a pic of the explanation AA gives. It's in the last paragraph.

I will also be enlarging a hole in the transfer case to accept the adapter. I'm taking it to my brother's machine shop today to have that done.
The gas pedal adapter came from a member on this forum (Hart rod). He sells them in the vendor section or the LSx parts forum.

Re: 72 Jimmy "Colonel Mustard"

I have read a lot of different builds but it's amazing that no matter how many you read you always see something different in each one. Great job and I look forward to watching the progress.
