EVAP purge valve/control solenoid removal on 5.3l

I am putting an '04 5.3L engine in my truck. I have modified the harness with the help of the LT1Swap website.

Now that I am not using the EVAP line I would like to remove the solenoid on the top of the intake manifold. For those of you that have done this before what is the best way to plug the hole in the intake manifold??

Thanks,
Mel

I just put a rubber cap on it. Bought the assortment of sizes from Autozone and put on the one that fit the best. They are in the red "HELP!" packages.

I can get a pic tonight. I need to do this too because I accidentally snapped the line off mine.

Re: EVAP purge valve/control solenoid removal on 5.3l

Are you talking about the tall thing right behind the throttle body that a elec connector plugged into and also a vaccum line, has one 10mm headed bolt holding it?

JKDADE,

yes that is the one. I was hoping to be able to unbolt the whole thing and somehow plug the hole in the intake so that I don't have that connector, etc. sticking up.

The vaccum port is broke on mine as well, I put a little rtv on it for now. I am am thinking about just making a plate and use a bolt to secure it with a little rtv or I might just leave it in there as I am going to order me some vortec max covers since they are less than $80 new from gmparts direct. You could use a silicon plug to stop it up but other than that I am clueless.

If you are using any of the stock covers, the solenoid is covered. Jay

Re: EVAP purge valve/control solenoid removal on 5.3l

Here is a pic if anyone is still wondering what we're talking about. Since mine is broke I plan removing it and using a pipe thread plug in the hole. When I searched for what people have used to plug it, most left it in place....or one guy used a spark plug to plug the hole
