Re: 47-59 Original and Close to Stock Pics
Here's my 1959 GMC that's had a recent restration that is kept really close to stock. An interior customization that is more akin to Chevrolet and a color change with a custom paint scheme. The brown truck pictured is the way my father had it from 1975 until he passed it along to me in 2014.

Re: 47-59 Original and Close to Stock Pics
not to hijack the thread but just a quik question... are the wheels painted the body color from the factory? or is it just a personal owners choice?

Re: 47-59 Original and Close to Stock Pics
Typically on standard cabs the steel rims were painted black on single color schemes. On two tones they were the primary body color. This is my recollection, someone else may post if this is not right.

Re: 47-59 Original and Close to Stock Pics
The tires, fender lenses, wiper blades, battery, and tail lights are not original.
It also has a Warner brake control. Showing 56K. I don't know about the paint.

Re: 47-59 Original and Close to Stock Pics
Here's my old, close to stock panel. It's been all over to Canada and Wyoming several times from So Cal (from past owners), then sat years in the desert area and now it's back on the road (I've had it about 2 yrs). It has a '54 261, 3 spd with o/d and stock seats with added camping options by previous owners. I ditched the Rochester B in favor of a Carter YF from a Ford 300 and re jetted it. I also added a bed mat to cover the wood to keep it safe.

Oh yea, it's a '56. I also found some stock 16" wheels, mated 90's Ford truck wheels to them (Ford outer hoop to Chevy inner) and now have stock looking 16x6 wheels with clips.

1 Old timer, the panel is fantastic! I’ve never even once seen a panel with all of the original interior intact. Super neat it survived untouched. Thanks for sharing!

Yep, panel is definitely cool. It looks like an automatic. Is it equipped with Hydramatic or a later transmission?

Thanks, that's the reason I bought it. It does have a tach in the dash above the radio (hole cut ). I did reverse some of the add on's, it had some bolt one turn lights on the fenders and quarters (you can see the black plug) and the holes on the roof/fenders will be fixed when it needs paint. It has some dents and rust in the drivers door/fender, but it's a driver. Last edited by 1oldtimer; 05-03-2019 at 06:53 PM. |

58 Chevy Apache 38. Great truck as long as you're not in any hurry and don't mind taking up two parking spaces.
All original. It was originally a highway department truck for Tehama County, Ca. It then spent the next fifty years on a ranch in Ono, Ca. Re: 47-59 Original and Close to Stock Pics
I bought her in 1980 when I got out of the Navy in SoCal. I put well over 100,000 miles on it. It was my construction work truck for 9 years in SoCal and made the trip from SoCal to Indiana and back 5 times loaded down with tools and 2 desert racing bikes in tow. I put a 12 bolt ($50 then) and a 4 bbl and headers from "Clifford Research" The 235 won't give up. I drove it up to the shop where she's getting a frame off drag and drive build with a 6-71/nitrous 292 and a six speed. Sorry but real patina has to go. I'm a shiny guy.

Re: 47-59 Original and Close to Stock Pics
Following Mick's lead, I share a couple "before" pictures of my truck in original condition. As the tape in the second photo shows, it didn't stay stock for long.
