A/C 134 retrofit?

I bought this 69 Chevy with factory A/C from a guy who was selling it for someone else and didn't know much about it. It has a sticker on the A/C unit that says it has be converted to 134 but the valve where you put in the freon is a screw on fitting. I was told that all of the sytems converted to 134 have the quick connect fitting. Is there any way I can be sure what type of feon is in the system. A guy at Autozone told me if I put the wrong kind in and mix the two that it will something bad, I forgot what and could explode. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
