Okie, two questions about replacement trannies!

OK, after calling around to the different tranny shops in town and in Portland, I have come to the stunning conclusion that it would actually be cheaper to pick up an aftermarket tranny and put it in then have someone rebuild my current one. So:

1) I'm looking at two companies, TCI and B&M - anyone had any good/bad experience with either? Any other aftermarket tranny companies that people have had good luck with?

2) From where to where on my TH-350 do I measure to determine if I have the 4", 6" or 9" tailshaft? Also, how do I know if I have the "standard diameter yoke" or not?

Thanks..

So, fill to me the parting glass
And drink a health whate'er befalls...
Then gently rise and softly call
Goodnight and joy be to you all!
