half way on the 72 Blazer
https://studio.youtube.com/video/-Y5_yKHwFIA/edit
I am not a professional and only painted a handful of trucks ever, all with single stage. This is the first time using basecoat. Most everything went well as far as the paint and clear "laying down". The regulator at the gun has been perfect forever and never moving off the mark. Between the base and the clear it decided to hang it up and no longer maintain a constant pressure. The first pass down the fender looked good and the air took off like a rocket. I It had a bad run. From there I had to adjust the regulator constantly. It turned out rather nicely. The hood had some trash but that was to be expected in a make-shift garage set up. Most I think will come out. Just behind the wheel wells I had runs in the clear. I could not reach it to see the pattern and did it reaching over the bed and spraying back toward me. Turns out that is not a great idea. The basecoat sprayed much easier than I expected. And not being a pro, I think it sprayed easier than single stage. The clear was a lot easier to apply than I expected. The air changes added some difficulty but it laid down and looks better than I expected. It is much more work than single stage but I think it was an easier spray, if that makes any sense at all. S |

Re: half way on the 72 Blazer
I replaced the word 'studio' in the URL with 'www' and was able to see the nice looking orange parts in the house wrap paint booth! Good work!

Re: half way on the 72 Blazer
Thanks for the correction.
I pretty much suck with the laptop. Once I get past emails and forums I am at my boundaries. Yep. The house wrap was on sale at Builder's Discount for like $60. I ran a wire around the top of the shop thru PVC pipe. I can roll them up and down like curtains. LOL I looked for colors for a couple years now and every time I picked one I spotted the next one I liked more. I finally settled on this one. (A big part of it is that I am cheap and I just bought a 'mid stream project'. It cam with some extras, one was a 1/2 gallon of Nason paint, a gallon of Dupont sealer and just about a whole gallon of SpeedoKote clear. I had settled on orange some time back and the hugger oranges on the older trucks, and Chevelles and Camaros kept being the 'one'. This one is really close to those colors. (Don't tell the purist but it is a Ford Racing color found on the newer Mustangs) Thanks for the correction. Scott |

Re: half way on the 72 Blazer
Looks great, nice color... fun stuff trying to keep all the equipment working correctly. Throw in temp and humidity.
