Removing stubborn firewall electrical plug

This seems like it should be obvious but going to ask anyway. The bulkhead connector on my '66 does NOT want to come out. I'll eventually go with all new wiring so I can just cut and pound, but would really like to understand the thing. Is it just a case of the rubber grommet being fossilized with age, or is there some sort of catch or tab to release?

Re: Removing stubborn firewall electrical plug

I used my heat gun and heated it up and it will become soft. Then you can pull it out.
