Th350

71 chevy cheyenne. Yesterday trans worked fine. This morning dead cold also fine. Went to leave work after it sitting for a few hours and shifted into gear w/o letting it warm up at all and nothing happened in any gear. Revved it up and shifted back into gear and it worked in all gear with a slight 1 sec delay. Ideas? There is fluid on the stick . Fluid doesn't smell burnt but there is a little black that comes off on my finger.

Thanks in advance,
