59 w/MII contemplating brake upgrade

I have the Heidts kit with 11" rotors and GM 1-piston calipers. I have a disc/drum corvette style non power master with 1" bore. GM big drums on a corporate 10 bolt in the rear. I am contemplating a front upgrade to a Bear 4 pot setup. The reasons are 1) the current rotors/hubs are 6 lug items that have been drilled for gm 5 lug bolt circle. The job is questionable. 2) cos i can.
I am happy enough with the brakes the way they are and I like the firmness of the pedal. But more stopping power can't be bad right? What do you all think?

Re: 59 w/MII contemplating brake upgrade

I used the Chevy brakes on my clipped front, same MC as you and almost same rear drum set-up. Like you, it works OK but I'm also thinking of going to Wilwood or other 13" 4 piston set up on mine and 11's on the rear. Be careful about wheel diameter. I already have 17's so no problem but it can be a limiting factor. I also have a power booster and it's still just OK.

Re: 59 w/MII contemplating brake upgrade

Might be just me, but I don't see that kit giving much more stopping power than the standard upgrade for the MII. Other than the sexy factor of drilled and slotted rotors and red calipers, it still has an 11" rotor, looks like GM pads and only 2 piston calipers with both pistons on one side instead of opposed. If it costs only slightly more than the standard upgrade, I might pay for sexy but I wouldn't pay much more for that kit. I'd be inclined, if spending money, to go for more rotor and pistons for some amount more money. The work is the same. Just me.
