What is the most sought after truck year ?
Having been a truck guy ( probably owned more than 50) for more years than I care to say….what year truck is the most sought after in your opinion. Not asking what your favorite truck is, I’m asking what you think is the truck that most people want.
I say 1968, the slant hood makes all the difference to me. I know 67 is the same but 68 being the last year of that look is it, in my opinion. What say you ? |

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
I am partial to the 68 myself. Big window, slant nose.
But I think it’s second in desirability to the 72. Super trim, more options, attractive grille, and a little less “vintage” look as compared to the 67-68.

72 Cheyenne Super IMHO....and I just point to todays prices.
No matter your particular year they are all very good reps of a wonderful era we still enjoy. |

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
72 for me I like the later abundance of options that the earlier trucks didn’t have(Cheyenne super etc.) disk brakes, and I like the wood grain plastic door panels more than the vinyl/metal panels. Ive always liked the 71/72 front end the best as well. The evolutions that the Z84 and later YE9 trucks saw in the life of these trucks was a pretty big leap in creature comforts for the time.

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
I like the 67-68 front sheet metal, but prefer the 71-72 running gear. The disc brakes make them much nicer.
Actually, I like them all!

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
With me it would be the 68 also. I do however like the disc brakes and some of the later model amenities like the tilt and tach. I also like the wig wag front turn signals.

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
I'd say the 1971 and 1972 due to front disc brakes.
I like the grills on the earlier models myself but front disc brakes are pretty nice to have. |

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
I like the 72. Mainly because of my freshman year in high school. One of the older guys had a green 4x4 long bed. It was lifted with very large tires. When it came running down the road it looked like everyone got out of his way. That truck was extremely intimidating. My neighbor's dad had a yellow/white two-tone long bed. That truck looked so cool driving by the house. It had CB antennas, bed rails, toolbox, sliding rear window with a gun rack. He kept it shiny and clean. Those two trucks stuck in my mind, and I always wanted to own one. Now I do, my 72 C20.

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
I've owned every year from 1964 to 1972, plus 1978 and some newer years. I definitely prefer the 1972 for both styling and mechanical reasons.

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
I prefer the 1970 exterior and higher compression engines. I also prefer the 1972 cable throttle, door panels, and disc brakes.
When I redid my 1970 Blazer, I left the exterior alone, but made the other engineering and interior improvements.

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
I am a fan of them all, but my favorite has always been the '67 step side, a unique and timeless combination
First year for the new body design Last year for the small back window Smooth sides...no side markers I like the sloped hood much better than the blunt design of the 69-72 Simple grille with clean, sharp lines To me the 71-72 grills look like ice cube trays(to those who remember ice cube trays )

Re: What is the most sought after truck year ?
^ This. I'd also like a '67 step side. Not having side markers is a plus. Someday...
