Re: little over priced?

Russ explained one time why a seller puts a unbelievable price on a part...
Most of the time the item is outta stock...so rather than delete the listing, they just raise the price to unbearable $$$...then when it's back in stock they'll put it back at the correct price..
I pity whoever fatfingers the buy it now button..

Re: little over priced?

I never got the ridiculously high prices some sellers place on things. Do they really expect that much?

Although. I have to say. I have been guilty of this myself. I just sold my Jeep. I didn't really want to sell it but I never used it. And I didn't like seeing it just sit.
So I put it on CL with what I thought was a pretty hefty price tag and never expected to get a call. I just put it out there. I didn't care whether it sold or not.

The next day a guy showed up with a trailer and a bunch of money. Like I said. I really didn't want to sell it. But this guy loved it and I thought that he would take better care of it than I was. I guess that I was feeling a little guilty that I wasn't treating it like it deserved. I liked that Jeep. But I also like looking at stacks of dead Presidents too.

Re: little over priced?

I've been wanting to get a C8 Corvette. If you want a new C8 then I have two words for you. "Good luck!" I'm getting nowhere fast. They are either not available or ridiculously overpriced. I guess it's just supply and demand.

I decided to just order one. If I'm going to spend this much coin I'm not going to settle for whatever they have sitting around. I want what I want. I contacted the dealer and told them what I wanted. This is the reply that Chevy dealer sent me.

Well Paul,
We have quite an extensive waiting list for the C8 Corvette. A couple of months ago the factory stopped accepting custom orders. We expect 8 - 10 Corvettes 4th quarter of this year that will be for sale. I will certainly add your name to our list of interested buyers.... No definite word as to when we can start ordering 2022 models. We do charge a $5,000 markup over MSRP.

What happened to the days when you could just order a car? What is wrong with General Motors? Don't they want to sell cars?

I'm probably just going to throw in the towel on this one. I'm not going to pick through their leftovers with ugly paint colors and a $5000 markup. F**k it.

I checked out 4 other sites (including Summit) and they all want crazy money (over 450). Don't think OEM is worth that 4 sure!

I agree with you all the way ,,but ! once I was at a Corvette show in Portland Oregon and one guy showed me where when he had his Vette repainted ,,he had a run in the paint down on his door edge .. He said that's the way it came from the factory and many of others agreed with him at the show when I ask them if that is really what some guys do ,, yes we all paint back inperfections .

So, just maybe there are some out there that will pay the price for this item that the op posted ..??? not I

Re: little over priced?

In regards to the car, so many people want to be one of the first on their block to have the new car they will pay stupid money just to have that privilege so really it's not gm at fault. They will charge what the buyers will pay. It don't matter to me. I don't buy new anyway but the same goes for used car prices. Whatever the buyers are willing to pay, so blame those people.
$5 g over sticker? I remember when Pontiac did that much for the '79 anniversary Trans Am. I didn't buy one. A friend did and his father in law was the salesman.

Re: little over priced?

When I bought my Ranger brand new I got it for less than used ones were going for. It was a year old and had 6 miles on it and the dealer wanted it gone. That was in 2007 and cars weren't selling. I guess it's just a matter of timing.

I don't give a hoot if I'm the first guy on the block to have a C8. I already have two Corvettes. I just like the new one. I wanted one. I like Corvettes. But I refuse to be shaken down.

The funny thing that I have found with my Corvettes is that the dealers were cheaper than the private party sellers. To the dealers it's just another car that they need to move off the lot. And private sellers have watched too much Barrett Jackson and think that they are sitting on a pot of gold.

I'll just wait until the frenzy dies down. I was just disappointed that I couldn't order what I wanted at sticker price. That's bulls**t.

Re: little over priced?

I bought a new car a few years ago. When I went and looked, there was a sticker in the window with the "dealer markup" of $1k. My wife made some comment about that being what dealers do in the face of demand. I just laughed and said I certainly wasn't paying that. I ground them pretty fine before I got a price I liked. It was later in the 2016 model year, so I know that the dealer had gotten some money from the manufacturer for vehicles still in inventory. I'm a real skinflint, even though I have some money now (that's how I got it, that and the amount of overtime that I worked). It's what's keeping me from buying another truck. Some of the rolling ash cans that people take as B-J material are amazing.

For what it is. Yes. It is a bargain. Look at the prices of it's competition. Ferrari's, Lamorghini's and McLaren's hover around 300K And I'm sorry but am I the only one that does not like those weird scissor doors? (Ferrari excluded)

5K markup isn't as bad as I've seen. I've seen worse. A lot worse. Like 40K worse. They have customers by the short hairs on these cars and they know it.

The dealers are like hookers. They have what you want but you'd better pony up the money or you aint getting it.
