Best way to drain gas

Well I am back, and I haven't started my truck in nearly a year. What is the best way to drain the gas out. Also I will pull the distro to prime the engine of oil. If any one has any other helpful hints on what to do to get it running safely again after a long sleep please feel free to drop in a comment.

Welcome back!!! It must feel good to be back stateside again! Are you done with the middle east, or is there a chance of a second tour?

How much gas is in your tank? If it has been sitting for a year, I would drain it to about half, and put in some fresh stuff - then go out and burn it up!. Siphon hose worked for me in the past.

Check the dizzy cap, rotor, points (unless HEI) and make sure it's all clean.

Maybe pull the plugs and squirt a little oil in the cyl's and turn the motor over.

That's all I can think of for now..

Really not sure how much is left, but being a college student I am sure it is less than a half tank. It is an HEI so I don't have to worry about that. I might Have a chance to fool around with it this weekend if I can finish moving back in to my house. My roommates weren't expecting me back until April so I kinda just showed up, need to reclaim my room.
And no there shouldn't be any chance of me going back over there, just as long as I can escape the "Stop Loss". After Bosnia in the Active Army and Kuwait/Iraq in the National Guard I think I am done.

Thanks

I would just fill the tank and put 2-3 bottles of HEET in there to suck up the moisture and it should be fine.

Go to a marine store. They deal with stale gas alot in the boating industry. Something called seafoam or a similar product will revitalize your gas.
good luck

deployments

Hey! I was in Bosnia for SFOR 6 and got bac from Kuwait las Jan: USAR. I had to let the Fox sleep for both deployments. The key to a good sleep is prep. As far as resurrecting your truck, all the fuel suggestions are good. Marvel Mystery Oil in the cylinders is a good idea. Pull your main wire from your coil and cracnk for a little while (don't burn up the starter) to get oil throughout before firing it off. Make sure you've got ALL your flids too: It would suck to drive for the first time and the brakes or pwr steering don't work, or you overheat. Once it's running again, a prompt oil change and at least a tank of premium should clean out the insides. Welcome back!
