Re: "The Black Pearl"

Well it's finally rolling, sort of. Looks like I still have a way to go but knowing the body work is already done I'm getting pretty excited. Need to run air lines, place my tank and valves and then it'll truly be a roller. After that she's going to get wired and plumped up while I work on raising the bed floor. After that it's install the interior and she'll be good to go.

Re: "The Black Pearl"

Hey man not sure how I missed your post, sorry for the delay. yeah hot August nights is coming up, but I am pretty sure its now in the much cooler month of October in DWN town Beaumont. We, The Lakes Area Cruisers, have a show coming up in the fall as well in Jasper, usually 250-300 cars or so. I have been mostly out of the show seen this year, spending my time off working on some of my cars instead.

The rat is a 29 Ford Model A, chopped, channeled, disc brakes, rebuilt 302 and a long list of little things. The rat rod is up for sale, if anyone is interested shoot me a pm and I can get some more pics.

Re: "The Black Pearl"

Well here's the rendering, it's completely opposite from where the original truck was going and I'm glad I got sidetracked along the way, I think I'm going to be happier with the end result of this one, now I just need to think of a new name for this build, any suggestions?

Re: "Outkast"

Well I had my truck delivered to Rhea's Chevys yesterday in Humble. Drove over today to talk to Bobby and he had a lot of good input. He estimated the truck would be ready in time for the spring Goodguy's at Texas Motor Speedway. There will be a few significant changes coming but I'm not going to release those until they're done. I will post up pics as he sends them to me.

I'm not going to get into the step by step of it as most if not all of you know way more than me about what I'm doing anyway. I thought I'd just post post some pics of what she started off as, post a list of upgrades I plan to add and then post some pics when she's complete.

I started off with a 72 c-10 that someone had already bagged(we'll call it that for lack of a better word) and shaved(again this word is lending too much credit to what was actually done). The previous owner had installed a 383 Smeding Extreme motor with the 500hp package. It runs good and strong and maybe has 1500 miles on it. The interior is pretty much a wreck: seats out a 99 silverado, no flooring, dash in shambles and a rattle can paint job. She has 15" shoes off of who knows what and tires about as wide as a french fry. All in I think she is a pretty good foundation knowing that I paid less for the whole truck than a brand new 383 Smeding motor costs.

My goal for the body is to straighten everything up and make it look clean. I'm going with Hot Rod black with 20" wheels all around. As for the interior I'm going to try to keep it as close to stock as I can with a few new school twists. I'm going with original door panels, arm rests, bench seat, dash pad, steering column, visors, headliner and a/c controls. For the new school twist I'm going to throw in billet window cranks, billet door cranks, billet rearview mirror, billet steering wheel, a new gauge cluster and of course a newer style radio that my iPod can hook up to.

Now for the good stuff.

To date I have ordered:

Porterbuilt Front & Rear Dropmembers
Power Rack & Pinion
Dual 480c Viair Compressor Kit
CPP Front & Rear Big Brake Kits
One Piece Products Window Conversions w/Actuators to use factory handles
Front Grill w/Billet Insert
20" Centerline Smoothies
55 Chevy Hubcaps(to make the smoothies look old school)
Aluminum Radiator w/Dual Fans
New weatherstripping
New Body Mounts
and Waiting on some measures to get a fuel cell from AluminumFuelCellGuy

The list will continue to grow I'm sure.

I'm waiting to buy a donor 72 frame to get to work on my dropmembers so when my body is ready to be sprayed we can transfer it to a complete dropmembered frame.

Hope this turns out as good in person as it's looking in my head. Hope everyone enjoys it.

what color of blue is tha??

Re: "Outkast"

Love the build! I wish I could have bought those wheels from you, but I think I want 24's in the back! I was wondering where you purchased your gas tank? It looks like it fit in there well with the PB rear notch's! I would need one for fuel injection! Your frame looks awesome keep it going!

Re: "Outkast"

Thanks, it's a fuel cell guy tank, he's a vendor on here or was, I had him adjust the mounting tabs to provide more ground clearance, the way I have it set up requires some bed floor mods, but since i'm raising mine it isnt a problem
