Does anyone know if all of the TH350 cases for a 4x4 had a "K" on them? Will a car TH350 work in a 4x4 without the tailshaft? Thanks for the help.

If this helps. My T350 case was shot. The trans guy took all my 4x4 guts and put it in another T350 case.
I guess the key is the output shaft. And I think thats the first part thats put in.

If I am not mistaken there are 3 tail shaft sizes a short, long and a medium I do believe that the medium tailshaft is the one for the 4x4 but not absolutely sure I hope this helps you out

Breeh,

I don't think all 4X4 TH350's were K cases. The original (I think) TH350 in my Suburban was not a K case.

A few years back my TH350 went south on me. Upon teardown, I found that the case was junk. I located another TH350 used in a 2wd with the short tailshaft. I swapped all of the 4X4 guts as well as a rebuild and shift kit into the 2wd case. This setup has survived quite well behind the healthy 388 stroker in my truck.

The 4X4's don't use any tailshaft at all. The main case bolts directly to the transfer case adapter.

I think we are mixing terms. The 4x4s dont have a tail housing. They do have an output, or, tailshaft. The length of the tailshaft would be determined by the application. 4x4 no housing, or long or short tail housing. Like some caddys had the super long tail housing.

Thanks for the correction. No tailhousing is what I meant.

Hey breeh, got a question for ya. Where was that K on your trans case? I never knew there was difference in the cases.
And, nobody Ive asked knows what that C6 on my bell housing means.

There is no "K" on my 350 case but the 700R4's that I have have "K's" on both sides about 2" tall cast into the case up near the bell housing portion of the case.
