I need a rear end in CA...

I am going to be in the need of a rear end. I would prefer a posi... I need a half ton 5 on 5 bolt pattern... Can anyone help me out with this?

good luck on that, It took me nearly 2 years to find a good one for my 1/2 ton conversion

Really? Arent the pickup rearends with the same coil over suspension interchangeable? Two years? Nawwwww... that is just to darn long to wait for one. Might have to switch it up a bit then. Go with a ford or dana maybe...

I have a whole 71 1/2 ton GMC Suburban with a 3.07 possi rear end in it. I want the Big Block and t-400 tranny, but the wrest is for sale. Nice project too!! It does have the tunnel air in it also. All yours for $1,800.00..

It is better than most that I have seen. The places that I have found through rust are, right front fender, core support, right inner fender. All battery acid stuff, however the core support could be saved. The lower rear of the front fender has started rusting through, but I think that the front fender should be replaced anyway. Both lower rear quarters are rusted through, (just next to the wheel well) with the r/h side just getting started. Both front rockers could use replacing, but are not real bad yet, (you can't see through to the ground) The 3rd door rocker is solid. The kicks are rusted about 1/2" up from the floor and there is a hole in the firewall just above the heater motor donut seal. Both front floor supports need replacing, but the rear supports are solid. The windsheild frame, floor, area above the windsheild all appears to be rock solid, as are the rocker backing plates. The liftgate could use replacing and the tailgate is showing a little bubbling on the outer skin near the bottom. The tailgate would be easely repairable. If he is seriouse about buying it, I would be more than happy to email larger pictures so he can see it for himself. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Hey there WES,

Well, my buddy says that now is not a good time, to bad for him, but seriously, if you decide to part her out, let me know, I would really like the front drivetrain and rear axle, etc. you see, I am wanting to get my 3/4 ton to half ton drivetrain. anyways, get back to me, and sorry my buddy dont want the ride, if I had room, I would take it off you hands quick.

I have a question for the good people who know more than I do:

I have been looking for a rear end... 5 on 5 bolt pattern, prefer posi, and I figured I would use a conversion kit from early classic enterprises for the front, as I am going from 3/4 ton to 1/2 ton. I contacted a person in southern cali and this is his reply:

"Have everything you need for your 1/2 ton
conversion(5 lug disc brakes with 1/2 ton control
arms,5 lug rear end) and Ill give you a package deal
for everything for $750"

Does this sound "good" or should I just do the rear end and then give the other idea a go since I want to lower the front in the long run as well, as in drop spindles and what not?

Any comments would be appreciated

Hey Tommo,

I am located in Waterford, Ca... not too far from you. just head east. Just what exactly do you have? I really am in need of the rear end. I havent decided on the front end route that I am going to take. I want to end up with about a 4 in lower stance on the front, so I will need drop spindles eventually. The rear, I want to end up with a 5 inch drop, might bag this area, but not sure. But like I said, I need to find a rear end and components first, and get to work on that...

to make a long story less long-
ive had my 70 k30 (yeah, i know chevy didn't make those) for about 15 years and it has been to hell and back lots of times. i got a 71 c10 for the body shell to put my chassis under. i haven't made up my mind what i'm going to do quite yet, but the c10 has 5 lug stuff. if i had a buyer for some parts it would help me to decide what i am going to do. it just seems like a waste to 'fix' my ol beater 'cuz then it wont be as much fun wheelin'.

Hey Tommo,

I cant say for sure that I will take the front end stuff, as I am leaning toward the c20 to c10 conversion spindles from ECE, that would allow me to continue to use the beefier ball joints, etc... I am sure that someone here would want the front end stuff, but I just need to secure a rear end, for now.
