Whats this engine worth

My brother has given me two engines. They are both 454's.
I am not sure what year on either of them. He said one of them was running when it was pulled, and the other is locked up.

Here is my problem. I have someone interested in buying them, but I am not sure how much to ask. I am wanting a 4 bolt 350 to put in my blazer, and would really like to just trade them for one.

I have no idea what these engines are worth, and the guy just wants to take a look at them (he does not have a 350 to trade)

What should I ask for them? I would like to get enough for another small block 350. What do ya'll think?

Around here complete 454's go for about $6-800...even if they need a rebuild...the more complete the more $$ they are worth.

They're not worth anything. Since I'm a nice guy I'll come get rid of them for you.

I typically can get a complete used 454 for $250 guarantteed rebuildable oil pan to intake. (no accessories)

I had a buddy of mine thought at one time they were worth $600 for just the short block (my brother's cracked and he was trying to buy one since he knew this guy was forming a collection of BBC's) I told my brother I could get him a complete one for $250, I did and he sold the heads to putz boy for $300 and the crank assm and the rest of the parts to a another guy for $150.

When I asked the guy about his prices and he told me what they were, I asked him if he wanted to buy some more for that his price as I could get them all day long. He was pissed.

low87......LOL! Nice guy huh?

So I wouldn't be too far in left field if I told him $500 for both of them?

I should be able to find a good 350 for that.

I know its a long shot, but if any of you are close and would like to buy them I will let anyone from this site have first tabs on them.

Since I know that ya'll are going to help me out on the engine swap in my Blazer

If you sell them running or not any less than $400 each you are ripping yourself. Put them in the local paper for $500 each and then work from there. They will sell!!! Bring them to me in Ky and Ill give you $800

Engines sold

The guy came by last night and I took 500 for both.

I know that sounds low, but they have been sitting in my Dad's shed collecting dust for the last two years

Anyway, now to concentrate on my rebuild
