Re: Crew cab ??

We had some pics of the two tone 66 in another post. Alot of problems inside, especially the B post and piller. Has 2 different front fender emblems, one of which is upside down. And they did a horrible job splicing the two cabs...if you can find the other thread you can see all the work that wasn't done. It looks much better from the outside than the inside. Its still a nice truck, but needs alot of work to fix the cheap work.

Re: Crew cab ??

Chiefrocka, I seen a build on that truck, but none of the pictures would come up for me? Could you post them or send some to me? I'm thinking if I can't find a crew to buy I'm going to build my own. I also read that you had trouble with the tops of the door jams? I can see in the pic that it is in a little far. I wonder how the coach companies made theres further out?

Well ... I only have these pictures. If you can pull up PreRunnerRob's original thread, that would be the only thing I could suggest.

He was making good progress, then got fed up and took a sawzall to it.

His plan was to end up with no major 'width' in between the doors...possibly even suiciding the rear door, but still have a pillar.

He did not want the flexing/creeks/noise associated with the front door latching into the rear door.

PRR was on his way...too bad it got scrapped.

It also confirms my suspicions that the '63 and earlier door/cab lines would lend themselves nicely to Crew-Cab construction.....as in forward swept windows and B pillar fit and overall appearance.
The external hinges on the rear doors looks like it works well....and unless you were frenching yer rig outright.....it doesn't hurt to look at, either.

I agree with you about the door lines. That's why I want to buy a 60-61. The 62 on up had the straight edge rear door.

I was glad to at least get some good pics of the truck, I mentioned to the guy that I wasn't going to be able to buy it, and told him what a help pics of the doors and jambs would be.

the orange 60-61 pictured earlier in this thread has some good interior shots.

I would really like to see one in person, I could get some shots that would help in the reproduction of one of these.

I was tipped off about one just 2 hours away from me, but I accidentally tipped my hand, and by the time I was ready to get it the price had doubled and it was in the process of being sold....
not sure if it was the right coach body though , it was a 61, but it could have been a proctor-keefe, or aotumotive industries coach, which I don't care for...

I will post up some more build shots that should also be a good help.

Preacher mans truck was the first 60-61 truck that I had ever seen. It is an awesome truck. I would love to buy that one.

Re: Crew cab ??

here are a couple 60-61 photos that I chopped up... lowered, and chopped about 2-3 inches, lowering the truck and roof brings the extra short box into proportion, I think.
