Help a brother out.

The last piece I need to finish up the inside of my 69 C50 is the tall rubber parking brake (hand brake) boot. Mine is toast.... I have been searching the web for months with no luck, if anyone reading this wants to sell one they have or can even lead me to the right place I'll put some cash in your hand. Please help a brother out.

Looking in my parts book, (and not knowing more about your truck), it looks like you need one of the following part numbers.

GM 3905014 (these are available on ebay currently)

or

GM 3957751 (didn't get much on a google hit with this one besides GM parts wiki, but there are NOS places out there that might have one. You may have to call around.

Re: Help a brother out.

Thank's JP, I should have listed the part #, it is a 3957751. I have searched this part number for months without a single bit of luck. I bought the small pill shaped rubber and metal grommet that clips to the floor under the boot and that at least keeps the fumes and critters out, but that sure is an ugly hand brake sticking up out of the floor without 11" of rubber to cover it. There are a lot of guys with 67-72 C50's on this site, surely someone on here can get me closer than I've been able to get on my own.

I assume you've called NOS venders? I have found a few parts through some of the more obscure places. Also, have you by chance given this part number to a GM dealer to search their system? I have found a few old 4x4 parts that way. You'd be surprised what some dealers still have in the "back".

I assume you have tried these places. I can probably write a few down if you need it. Let me know.

Re: Help a brother out.

Thanks JP, I went through the entire list of NOS venders from your link with no luck. They ALL seem to be geared for the light duty truck crowd. South Florida is a great place to live unless your searching for parts for an old C50.

No problem. I will keep a look out for you as I am still working on my C60.

Re: Help a brother out.

Maybe go to the Truck LKQ in your area. They are new trucks there but most have the same style hand brake system. The LKQ truck yard in Tampa is super. Hope you find something that will work.
Did you get the rear suspension moved forward yet?

Re: Help a brother out.

Thanks for the tip Dave, no I'm starting that project next Saturday. Last week was a shiny new 2.5 inch all S.S. Magnaflow dual exhaust, and 2 new ceramic coated rams head smoothie manifolds. The truck can finally breath a little better. The old Y-pipe was 1 7/8" and it had a small 6"x 24" rusty old no name muffler on it. I paid $500.00 for the new pipes and mufflers (7" x 27 round)" but it's all S.S., buy it once for life. The smoothie manifolds were another $250.00 but what an improvement on just the looks of the motor alone not to mention the old ones were cracked and leaking. I found my 1969 hockey puck cab lights on eBay, 3 at once, then 1 and 1. I took a beating on those $$$$$...... The inside of the cab is almost done except for paint, a stereo, gas tank relocation, and that damn missing hand brake boot! I finally got my heater controls, duct work, sun visor, rear view mirror, cigarette lighter, shifter boot and dome light installed. One piece at a time I guess.
