Good day of ripping around. It was a great day weather wise so I pushed it out in the driveway to work on it because then I could get to the drivers side. I had to do a little trimming to get the dash to set back the way I wanted it. Then next was to mount the steering column. Because of the new dash I needed to relocate it. I cut out my lower mount and ground it up and moved it up a few inches. Then made a filler plate for the old hole. Then put the steering column back in and figured out my upper mount. It is a 350 connecting rod. Clamped it on the column and made the new tabs. Then welded them in. Next was the fuse panel. Welded studs to the tubing on the backside of the fire wall. Then on to the drivers side. I was not pleased with the area above the side cowl panel. I don't like the deap area that is normally filled with all the lead. Plus there was the antenna hole. So I trimmed it all out and rolled a new panel in the slip roll. I cut it all out and tacked the new one in. Hopefully tomorrow will be as good as the day went today.

I hope that is not a Painless wire kit, I am in the process of installing one and it is the worst kit I have ever worked with !!!

That came out Sweet!! One of these times that cool colum drop will not get hidden !!
Keep up the truck porn !! Looks like that wheel won't block the speedo . A shot from behind the weel would be Kool ! I can't wait to iet back in country and come up & see it , maby even help you move!

Solidaxel, thank you. No it is an ez wire kit. I usually alway use them, plus they are cheap. The wires are marked every 12" and gm color coded.

48 GMC BURB, thank you. Yes I know on the column drop. At least you can see the bottom of it! I had to keep playing with the column place to get it right. I had to change the lower mount enough that now I need a 3rd joint and a stand off. Setting g in the seat everything sets great.

I did a bunch yesterday on the truck. Finished welding in the patch panel and ground it all up. Need to stud gun it at the bottom to pull it out a little, but other than that it is way better than before and no deep lead joint . Then it was time to work on the drivers side exhaust cut out. Got the fender all cut and hole sawed out the header, then set my tube and cut it to the profile of the header. Then glued it in. Looks just like the other side now. Then worked on a bunch of small stuff but nothing picture worthy.

Xpickup. Just finished the whole thread. Total Strong Work. I will be doing a 57 GMC 96 C-4, BBC with a 6 speed auto, I'm going to shamelessly help my self to a lot of your ideas. So thanks very much. I saw on post 416 your tig torch, is that a hand controller? If so any and all details would be very much appreciated. I have a tig, knowing enough to create boogers of epic size color and texture anytime, anywhere. I'm hoping to find a hand controller that works with the Eastwood TIG 200. I can't seem to get the peddle thing me working. Any help from anyone would be great, I have no ego to brouse sorry not a speller. Thanks again Nut Case

99 to Life, yes it was nice having all that room outside. I got a good bit done. But sorry NO tv show. I am like you and can't watch all the BS. But yes I can't wait to get in the place. Although I need to build a fence and a shed first. Then run the new heavier power cables into the house. At least this house has a 200 amp service. Then I will wire in the new breaker box, lights, 110 and 220 outlets. I figure my life will be crazy for a few months.

Nut Case, yes go ahead and use and of my ideas. That is why we post on here. Or at least I don't mind. Yes the hand control on my TIG torch is the greatest. The TIG at work has a foot peddle which I don't mind using either , but working off the bench would suck using it. That was the reason for buying the hand control. So much easier in odd positions and you don't have to figure out how to hold the torch , feed wire and push on the peddle and still try to balance yourself. Lol. I tried the Eastwood TIG and it worked good. But I think it had a foot pedal. What size tungsten and wire are you using? Sounds like you are not hot enough or too far away or not staying on it long enough to get a puddle. Practice, practice, practice, the more you do the easier it will become. There are a lot of good videos on you tube to help you out. Glad to help you out with anything if I can.

Xpickup. Sorry for lack of clarity on my part. I'm interested in the hand controller on your Tig. I have an Eastwood Tig with a foot pedal, I'm good at puddles. I would like your input on you hand controller on your Tig torch handle. I have a Millermatic 210 Mig that I will use on frame and such. I'm going to use the Eastwood Tig 200 for sheet metal and exhaust and so forth. Which Tig welder do you currently use. Thanks for the reply. I'm spending time on the University of Youtub for info. I am nude and so forgive me if it's not all right to respond to an old post like this. I had not seen any updates on the up and I'm very interested. I am building a 5130 100 and getting ready to purchase A rolling chassis for a C6 Corvette LS2. I have no idea how I'm going to do it but I intend to make it work. R&B51, the 1951 Chevy I am building uses the c4 suspension. The c6 suspension is probably a whole different monkey. When I was setting up the suspension I had got the dimensions and angles off of a stock corvette. That is about all I can tell you on how I did it or there maybe some specs and dimensions online . I checked out the link. That truck probably handles like it is on rails.


I should be posting again soon. It has been a crazy past couple months. At least the move is done. Been in the new house for a little over 3 months now. A week after we moved in I had my permit to build the 12x12 shed and fence in the whole back yard. So in 3 months time I stick built my maintance free shed, bought God only knows how many 1x4 s for the fence pickets , notched the 4x4 posts and built the fence. Then started on the important part, the garage. I framed out the front block section, then insulated, rewired it and put osb on the walls and the ceiling. Then put up the 2 rows of 8 ft long lights from the front to the back of the garage. Then primed it all and just painted it white on the top 4 ft and the ceiling. Then grey on the lower 4 ft of the walls. Also figured I would organize better in this garage, so I built a big steel rack to house all my material and sheet metal. It is so nice to have double plus of what my old garage was. Plus an extra bed room and 1/2 bath over the old house. So get ready I should be back this month.

Well getting ready to start ripping on Ken's truck. Finally have most of the garage done. Still have to run the 100 amp service wire from the house and install the 24 space box yet. But about out of money so it will have to wait a little while. I also bought a 100,000 btu natural gas heater I have to hang from the ceiling yet too. I have the 1 inch gas line e run from the house to the garage. I built some wall art for the wall. It was a fun project and only took a few hours. I also am doing a small project for a buddy, it is a 68 camaro lower valance with the markers filled and the holes shrank up 4 inches. Then I am adding the 69 camaro round marker/turn signals. Once I have that finished it is onto the doors and hinges on the pickup. It will feel good to get back to working on it again with the added space. Also looking to finish up the inner fenders I made, waiting for the ac compressor. Need to cut out the fender well and recess it back in. So I should be back on it this week and am looking forward to posting pictures again.
