That Barber museum looks great, will check it out someday! Slot cars were a good time, spent many hours racing with my cousin

Re: Let’s see where the wind blows me

We do have some beautiful old buildings in Jackson! But I got on here tonight to be sure you didn’t get shot or robbed hanging out down there ... just kidding ... but seriously😬! Hate it didn’t work out for us to meet up, but with work it’s hard to get away sometimes.
You made a good route going to Barber Motorsports. That place is definitely amazing, and since it’s bike collection changes regularly we try to visit every few years.

Thank you so much for the offer
I remembered Gerhard had visited you guys when he was in America
When I was in Jackson, was planning to go north
To the auto museum in Tupelo, which would have brought me right by you
When I dug a little deeper, found out it closed a couple years ago
So I headed east

Next stop

Man I’m jealous, that old car city looks awesome! Looks like you’re still having the time of your life, maybe you spend too much time with the hillbillies in Arkansas? Those duck tape skills appear to be advanced to me... I would know I’ve got a degree in duck tape and bailing wire

I had the duct tape and baling wire ready when he got here. I wanted that thing renecked as soon as possible. It looks like it's working.

My wife took her dad to the VA hospital in Jackson.

When the appointment was over my wife asked a nurse where a motel in a safe place was.

The nurse said "Hun, there ain't a safe place to stay in Jackson.".

Re: Let’s see where the wind blows me

It would be hard for me to explain this place
That is the owner
He grew up in the junkyard
His ‘mommy and daddy’ started in 1931
Very nice man
That is more of an artist than junkyard owner

Wonder how many of those cars in post 238 ran shine? You’re not THAT far from the hills of Appalachia...

Re: Let’s see where the wind blows me

Old car city used to be a thriving junkyard, unfortunately, they don't sell parts off of any of the cars in the yard anymore. There's a bunch of good c10 parts left that I can see!

I'm not too far from there, but still haven't seen it in person. Might have to go over there some time this summer

I can see how it's cool in an artistic sort of way, but I get bummed out at a place like that. I want to save all of the ones I like.

Re: Let’s see where the wind blows me

These vehicles have already been saved
Most of these cars would have been in the crusher long ago
Once he’s gone, I’ll bet this place gets wiped off
The face of the earth
The way I see it
The guy is a pretty good business man too
I’ve been to so many museums
They all cost roughly $10-15
Went to this one that is right down the street

https://tellusmuseum.org/galleries-more/

I’ll bet it was in the hundreds of millions to build
With dozens of employees walking around

Old car city doesn’t claim to be a museum
It doesn’t cost him a penny
He has one red neck employee (that’s nice too)
And he charges $30 if you want to take pictures

When I do the math, he seems to be an artist
With a good business sense

Re: Let’s see where the wind blows me

Tellus just happened to be down the street
So figured I’d go check out the mineral collection
Got to watch a couple shows in the planetarium
And took a few pictures
After that
Went to a diner nearby to meet up with ‘flashed’

John, nice to finally meet and thanks for dinner
