ls1 oil priming
Just thinking the other day that my 5.3 motor has been sitting in my project for almost 2 years and will probably be sitting a few more months before I fire it, so I was wondering if there was anyway to prime the oiling system before starting it again.

I have seen an article about this. Maybe in Hotrod?
Someone used a pail, electric drill running a SBC oil pump with a hose tied into a fitting into the block (I think) Maybe try a search on google |

I just poured some Marvel Mystery in each cylinder and turned the crank by hand. Mine started up fine and has run great ever since.

a little wd40 in each cylinder, crank with the plugs out (no compression) to get a little prime, and you should be good to go. My engine sat for a while at the wrecker, then again on my engine stand for nearly 5-6 months. Fired up with one little *puff* to get the wd burned out...right on the first try.
I did check to make sure that there was no rust in the cylinders BEFORE all this, but the wd helped keep things easy.
