My windshield wiper fix
Good morning!
Not long ago there was a post regarding windshield wiper blades and the wiper arm. I couldn't find it. There was a new person on board and he had a solution, but he left the site for a reason or two. But I bought a set of the wiper blade assemblies~ wasn't cheap! but I wanted some wipers that I know wouldn't fall apart. His production wasn't all that great, it still had flaws that I felt it still would fall apart. But I did find a part number that may be beneficial for turning the Taiwan blade into a trustworthy set. The picture below is where the problem seems to be the weakest on the aftermarket systems. Anyone that has these chinese, taiwanese knows what I'm writing about. On my link here to my blog, I wrote about what I did. Further mods could probably be done, but check it out and see what I did and let me know what you think! Click here to my blog of how I fixed mine: http://www.classiccarsandtools.com/2...shield-wipers/

Re: My windshield wiper fix
Darn I put this in the wrong place! It was supposed to be on the forum, not the build threads!

Re: My windshield wiper fix
Nice fix, D'ne. You always surprise me at how clever and handy you are with things like this. I also got a PM from the person you mentioned but can't remember his name. He sells on EBay but asks about $100 for a set of TF wiper arms.
I hope I have my wiper situation worked out now by using parts of my original and parts of the new ones. I thought the springs that came in my aftermarket arms were way too stiff so I discarded them and got some lighter ones at the hardware store. I might have to tighten them up a bit but won't know until I try them out. Getting a new windshield today so I definitely don't want any scratches. |

Re: My windshield wiper fix
Thank you Russell for the wonderful compliment! I do try to make my nitch somehow. That mans name is Lou. If I hadn't purchased the wiper blades from him, I wouldn't have found out about the NAPA 601233 vintage blades, so I can't take all the credit, but where I do take credit is the relocation of the hole mentioned in my blog cause the way he had it, well you know the story. I know others could probably do better than I did, but people seemed a little frantic about the poor aftermarket wiper arm/blade assembly. I paid what you said, but still had to make modifications.
I'm happy to hear you're getting your windshield! It's so nice to see that part happen! Thank you again, and for visiting my blog, I see that some other members here looked at it! I'm working on an ebook right now about my 67 Mustang. It's a lot of work! Sitting at a computer is harder than working on a truck! Quote:

Re: My windshield wiper fix
I guess my deal wasn't so bad, even though the quality wasn't good. I paid $40 for the arms and blades, and my blades are chrome, not silver.
On a downer note, I just got a call from the shop that's installing the windshield and it won't be ready today. Seems getting the chrome in right is causing some difficulty. |

I was looking for the man you're talking about on ebay, I didn't find his ad, but found these. Kind of pricey, but look just like the ones that were on my truck. On mine, the parts that splines are stripped out on one, but the other is useable. Sorry to hear about the delay on your truck Russell! Don't fret, you'll get it soon and it will be totally awesome!
