Cracked her open today so i can scrap the leftovers before the trip. She wasn't looking too healthy in there...
I don't think this is what they ment by CAM BREAK IN...

Bummer is, I found a hairline crack in one of the heads too.

I'll tkae it to our machine shop guys in the a.m. and see if it is salvagable.
If it is ok...cool!
If not...las $$ to spend.
I'm kinda wondering which way to lean on this.

That sucks, most have been on it pretty hard to throw one of those rods.... They are usually good untill 5000 and can take a 150shot of n2o, hehe but dont go over the 5000 mark

Nothing to it, a little JB Weld and you're ridin, It will work don't worry I read the back of the tube, it fixed a crack in a cat motor one time, caddy engine.....no problem...........LOL................

Couple of coats of paint, be running like a top! Hopefully the head can be fixed.

Been a long time since I have seen a mess like that...especially one that stayed within the engine. Like the others, its good you didn't pay for it and hopefully most of the engine will be useable

(thanks Burnsman!) 71 SWB Stepside, was a 250, now is a 402 Big Block with 4 speed and 3.73's ( was crushed by a tree, bed sold, motor pulled) was my first truck!... oh well... 72 LWB 4x4 350 4-speed 3.08's posi wearing army olive drab green (SOLD!) 68 BURB 50TH LOOKALIKE work in progress, soon to have 250-I6 with a 3-speed on the tree 4.11's and posi ( currently sitting in back yard tarped awaiting time, $$$, and lots of love!) 67 1 TON- work truck 396 sm 420 4-speed, flat bed 4.57 gears "big red" (my first landscape truck, very rusty and crusty! but still gets the job done when needed!)

Paid $1200; sold for $1500 a few years later. Just a hint at the appreciation that was coming. Retired as a factory automation products salesman. Worked part-time over the years for an engine builder and a classic car repair shop. Member here for 24 years! This is the very first car/truck Internet forum I joined. I still used a dial-up modem back then!
