Truck cover? Wife suggested..... - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

....we get a truck cover for my truck. Well once I got over the initial shock of her suggestion I thought I would log on and see if any of you guys are using one and which one would you suggest? Right nor the truck is parked in the back yard with no coverage.

I have the Wolf brand, it came from Summit. Its great, I have had it for 2 years, and it has sat on my truck through 2 winters. Is holding up VERY good

One word of advice though, no matter how tempting it may be NEVER try and peel ice off of it when it accumulates in the bed.

Well on mime, I tryed pulling off ice that accumulated in the bed through the winter because it was pulling the cover up and the ice sticks to the fabric and it kinda seperated it a bit. I guess the fabric is made up of a few layers or something. Kinda hard to explain but its a no no to do.

After it rains, how fast does it dry out?

If you are keeping it outside, the best deal is those cheapie thin ones. They are made out of something similar to nylon. They keep the sun and treesap off, but the best part is how fast they dry out after the sun comes out. Most of the better covers are made to be used indoors. They hold water forever when they get wet. I think wolf sells one for less than 40 bucks.

It all depends on what it is like outside after it rains on how it will dry, usually no more then a couple hours. I got mine as a gift and I think its a more top of the line model made from the evolution3 fabric I think. An important design of the fabric is that it lets moisture out but not in. I keep my truck covered all the time now, don't even have to wash it if it rains. Its grrrrrrreat.

sounds like the perfect time to put in a pitch for the workshop/garage, what you would spend for a cover would get things started.
Just a thought you could pursue while she was in the mood.

Actually I don't want to build the garage here. Not yet. We are going to sell our house soon. I just wanted to get some more thought on covers and such.
