Arrow 67-72 SS 454 truck??

I've heard that they made a SS truck in the 67-72 body style like they did with the 88-98 body style. Has anyone ever heard of this or know about them? Thanks for the help

I do not know how many times someone has come up to me and tell me they have a 67-72 SS truck. I have even seen car lots tell people that they are selling a "rare" 67-72 SS truck. You try to tell them there were no SS trucks in that era and they just refuse to hear it.

They never made one factory as mentioned. When my dad and I painted his about 5yrs ago we added a similar sticker to his GMC with a 396. I wonder how many people he has confused.

I know, I know...everyone's going to say I'm crazy. I agree, I've never READ about a SS version of our trucks. No mention in owner's manuals, restoration kids, or anything. However, I did see a sharp looking '71 or '72 short bed fleetside when I was in college (this was mid '80's). I didn't know much then, so I didn't research it. It looked like a Cheyenne Super, but it had a big crome SS on the tailgate trim (where the Super would have the woodgrain) and chrome SS emblems on the fenders. The SS emblems looked just like the ones that came on SS396 and SS454 El Caminos of the day. At the time, I assumed it was for real. Since it was a girl that was driving it (ouch, I didn't mean for it to come out that way), I never thought she would have "customized" the emblems. I've never seen or heard of such a truck since then.

Years ago around here in Dallas there was a 67-68 truck w/a 69 camaro 'RS' grill/hidden headlight set-up. Definitely looked different.

This is a real good interesting post. From all that I have read and heard there is so much thing although someone could do some modifying to "make there own" which I think is the case.

Runs well... working on body.
Plan to get painted weekend before memorial day weekend.
Planned to be done March 7 when I turned 16. Didn't happen. Chose to do better job and be behind schedule instead of 1/2 doing it and it looking like junk.

What no one has mentioned is the dealers. Dealers loved to put 427's in 396 camaros back during these years. Yenko and other dealers like them just might have made an SS version of these trucks with chevelle emblems like stated before. You can bet that if someone bought a modified one off a dealers floor they would think it was stock. 454's came out in 70 so I would not dought that some of the dealers did this.

Fast...I am still looking for the pics I have of that truck from a local show. It's been quite a few years ago & I've been to alot of shows & took alot of pics. Basically they flush mounted the hidden headlight system from a 69 camaro. Truck was solid red & looked cool until they scalloped it w/blue but the grill area remained red.
