I did the flip kit on my 72 and I need to get the rear end up just one more inch. What can I do? Are 4X4 shackles shorter than 2wd? and if so will they fit? After the flip kit the rear sits exactly 1" lower than the front and I hate the uphill look. Are there any add-a-leafs that will work.

Lifting blocks are inexpensive, and alot of parts stores carry them on the helf. Esp just a one or 2 inch block...probably no more than 30 bucks.

Ummm,after a flip kit,a block will lower you more. On my longhorn,I did a flip on the rear axle,& relocated the brackets(moved down on the frame),approx 1 1/4" to get the height where I wanted. On the rear brackets I added a pc of 1/4" 3x3 angle to the bottom of the frame(bolted to the inside of the bracket to eliminate flex). You want to make sure & use grade 8 hardware,& pinchlock nuts.Good luck.....69 longhorn

www.offroaddesign.com has a zero rate block that give you 1" of lift and it is center bolted to the spring pack for added strength.

But when you flip a two wheel drive, the axle is on top of the springs and the block lowers it even further. I would either try and find a set of springs that hard more arch than the ones you have, run a taller tire in the rear, or drop the front 1 more inch.

The shackles from a van would work, and are shorter.

What year van? 73-87 would have wider leafs, so they wouldn't fit into the shackle right? Hey Longhorn, do you need to lower both the front and rear mounts? I've been thinking about that. Also I might get air bags for it just for helpers right now. What kind of brackets would I need to make? Where do I mount them?

Yes,I lowered both front & rear brackets. The fronts didnt need any bracing,but the rears I used a pc of 1/4" angle iron,(2 1/2 or 3",whatever fits the frame width). 3 bolts on the bottom of the frame,& 2 bolts to the hanger. I only moved them down 1 1/4".....now the longhorn frame is a little different,so you need to look see how the drop will affect the front hanger on yours. I upped the hole size to 7/16,& used grade 8 bolts ,& pinchlock nuts(lockwashers arent worth a sh*t on suspension stuff).I have run 10,000 mi since,& havent had any trouble.
