Wow, great truck, and the removable bed system is absolutely brilliant. I thought about building a hydrualic flatbed much like the amerideck system, but yours whomps that bigtime, I like the way you can drop the bed to the ground for loading.

oh ya i almost forgot, my paint guy says he has time to paint the outside around mid march so ill be able to bring squeeze's project in to start on!! i think theres some people on this site that will get a kick out of this one. my lifelong bud is moving to california and i just scored his beloved 72 jag xj6, with a dead motor, it could be rebuilt but its more than the car is worth! so im gonna graft it to a78 gmc 1/2t swb 4x4 chassis that ive been saving for a while i think itll be cool, hope you all do too!

Dude, how tall (short) are you? Or do you plan on putting in a sunroof to prevent brain injury when you are bouncing along 4x4 trails?

I don't think it's a trail truck... In fact the farthest from the road it'll ever get, will probably be turning around in his yard.

Not knocking your build, I think it's an awesome custom like non I've ever seen. I'm only here, because I enjoy watching it's progress :metal:

Re: my radical 4x4 dually project

nope no sunroof just a soft headliner and a hard head, hehehe actually it will see lots of wheelin time as i often recover dead or broken trucks from the waipourous 4x4 area and this truck will get me back there as well as any othertruck has in the past, i just dont drive the trails at mach 1 billion like some of my buds do by the way im 5 ft 8 so ive got plenty of room. more pics to come when i get finnished with my springtime sledding, i gotta try and wear this new 800 rev out before the seasons out.

Sweet! I figured it was 4X4 to get to some nasty places, but didn't see you wheeling it just to go out & get dirty...

What's the bike in the background of your pic? I've had an '02 WG 1-1/2 yrs now. before that was an '98 883, and i'm working on getting my first bike ('68 XLCH) on the road again...

Re: my radical 4x4 dually project

ya it'll be goin on some knarly trails and its gonna get a bit beat up but thats half th fun! that bike is a76 fxe with 92'' stroker shovelhead and 4 spd shes not my best looking bike but shes loud and proud:metal:

chosn 1 04-12-2007 12:37 AM

Re: my radical 4x4 dually project

oh and keep that 68 xlch, btw the ch designation on yer ironhead sporty stands for competition hot and there were a lot fewer of them produced so she's worth some good coin rt now and more every yr!!!!!!!!! shovels rule.

1969K10 04-12-2007 09:08 AM

Re: my radical 4x4 dually project

Yeah, the XLCH was my old man's. there's pix of me as young as 3 riding with him, and grinning from ear to ear! So when the time was right, I got it from him and rode & wrenched on it. Now the motor needs going thru. I got some money on loan to one of my brothers... soon as he gets his tax check, the motor is going in to get the flywheels aligned so I can start putting it back together!!!! I can't wait. Anyway, the sporty isn't leaving my hands until they pry it out of them cold and lifleless...

Hi to everyone, i guess i'll post afew updates! ummmm lets see i didnt bother with getting the jag as the amount of rust on it was unreal!!!!!!! aword to the wise, never store stuff in a dirt floor building if the roof leaks a little so that the floor stays moist. it wreaks havok nuf said. in between redoing my driveway from a washout from spring thaw and the inevitable " honey do you think you could tidy the yard abit now that the snows gone" ive managed to get my side windows and vent windows made, and the pass side installed, i also got my dash pretty much finished and on my deck the 3/16 checkerplate floor is cut and tacked in place.but then she showed up at the shop so i gues i got another couple of wks of "chores" hehehehe! ok ok the pics!

Re: my radical 4x4 dually project

ya this time around ive got 2 pc side windows when i first built it back in the early 80s i did the one pc sides but whenever i rolled the window dn ,even a little bit there was too much noise and turbulnce so back to the way gm did em and i got them opening and closing and sealing as well. i still have to put the lock type latches from later model on tho and i used pwr window regs from a 72 caddy rear door too:)
