Thx Billhilly, I wanted to get some "flow" from the curvy lines of the truck to flow into the deck so I started with the headboard !

went out to the back 40 and rummaged thru all my spare parts and found two not bad hdlt trim rings so after 2 hrs with hammer an dolly an power polishing the front clip is now finished as well !

Yeah, some time for sure. Apparently it's my kids turn next. At (nearly) 18 she is off in 22 days for a global tour (and six months college in Switzerland). First stop Van, then Calgary, then Kelowna where I used to live. Some peoples kids!!

also got the wiper system worked out and the cowl tin installed, and they work, yay!, getting down to the nitty gritty stuff now !!!

Thx 85, im gonna make up aluminum caps with fins and brass wing nuts to finish em off and the stainless band is for a little step to help get me up in the cab when the air springs are full

few more things complete since last posts, running board/lakepipes complete except for caps, front bumper complete and mounted and wired, deck is done except powdercoat.

Finally getting a little bit more done on my seemingly lifetime project..........!
Drivers door is almost done, pwr windows and door latch solenoid courtesy of a 65 olds delta 88, working perfectly too!, vent window now complete and functional, window goes up and down like jack the bear!!!,(probably because there's only half the glass to move now!, way better than cranking for sure.
1" felt underlay and black auto carpet right from as high as I could go up the firewall to the back of the cab.
Kick panels are done with some bronze sheeting with a little polishing.
Pics won't load tonight so I'll try tomorrow.

carpet install, flat floor made it easy!,2500 watts of MA amps, 2-10" 1000 watt dual coil subs all done and ready for testing. now onto final dash wiring then gauges can go in!!!
Damn this **** takes forever to do!!!

Since I never had a proper gauge cluster I had to improvise , so I took another glove box lid and removed the backside, tacked on some blind mounting bolts, cut out where I needed the gauges to go, covered it in black leather, I had some real bronze 16 ga sheeting that an artist friend gave me, made an insert for the glove box lid and mounted my autometer gauges into it, they were a freebie that a bud gave me about 10 to 12 yrs ago!
Also mounted the airride controls,boost and trans temp gauges I had kickin around.
All in all it took about 10 hrs to make and total cost was about 30 bucks, much cheaper than those real cool clusters a guy can get for 67-72 trucks nowadays and I can say I did it myself!!!

found a site called seatbelt planet.com and ordered up a full set of seatbelts for the old girl, they were super easy to deal with and arrived within a week, top notch company for sure.

also found a company called stock interiors and ordered up replacement fabrics for my 88-94 chev bench seat, it took about 2 1/2 weeks for these to show up and couldn't get any reply from them in the interm, I was worried that I got ripped off but pkg showed up just as I was filing a complaint with c card company. I got right to doing the re and re and the seat turned out awesome! very happy with the product ,not so much with the customer support tho!

Had one BIG F#@KUP tho, forgot to pull off the wiper arms while wiring up the wiper motor resulting in a huge scratch on the new windshield from a little pc of grit stuck to the wiper, now I gotta cut another windshield down to fit....GRRRR!

Deck is out for powdercoat now so hopefully it will be on the road by June cause I gotta get about 20 cord of logs pulled outa the bush near Spirit lake Idaho where we're gonna put up a cabin on our land 😊

Ya it sure does, will be taking lots of pics, kinda waiting for the Cdn dollar to get a bit better to order cabin pkg, but got lot of clearing to do anyways!

Well I guess that by the whoopin im takin in the june contest ,I'm definatly disappointed that there isn't much interest in my project so i'll quit boring you with the other picks of the welding and hiab crane decks, thanks much to those that did show some interest tho.

I haven't been on here much but I definitely dig all the work you've done. Everything looks great! And that really sucks about the windshield! Back in high school I was looking at a truck I was about to buy and I noticed it was missing the driver side wiper blade, my step-dad didn't notice and turned on the wipers... I ended up buying the truck and just lived with the scratch just like that for the next 3 or 4 years until I sold it.

You said you're building a log cabin?

Don't get discouraged man! I for one like your truck and have been following along since you posted it so don't quit on us now. :mm: You had some real stiff competition in there. Mosesburb's rig is winning and rightfully so. That is a well set up, well used trail rig that sees many miles on roads that hardly anyone travels. 6bt 56's truck is a very nice converted truck and has a nice original look. And Lower50's has done a great job too. It is a hard choice. I wanted to vote for all my diesel brothers. :waah: If I were you I'd feel proud that your truck is nearly done and you can start using it. :metal:

Thanks DW, I guess I thought it would be more warmly received! It was really a fun build and I'm happy with it, maybe if i post some pics with it workin and wheelin up the cutlines and full of battle wounds it'll get a better reception!

Man, please don't stop with the updates! I hadn't seen this build before, but I love it! I think this is the first time I've seen a chop top on a truck that wasn't slammed and I really like how it looks. I also dig the changeable bed system you've got set up and look forward to seeing some pics of your rig in use. Nothing better than a custom truck that's actually usable.

Thx Jae!, I just dug my other two roll off framerail assy's outta the back forty and gonna do a bit o measuring and dreamin and schemin ,I think im up to build a full on service deck with hiab mini picker, real old but healthy miller big 40 gas motor compressor, torch and full tool set like i used to run!

pulled another one of the trucks I have had since highschool days, this is a 72 gmc with 350 and 4 spd std trans, still had the original mag wheels in the shed so stuck em on and cut a few trees outta the way and pulled her up to the shop, gave it a quick wash and threw the booster cables to the starter and she still turns over:metal:, we'll see if she runs later this week !!!
