Sort of. This Kent WA one is Chalet #1102, the same one that was the initial topic of this 2013 thread here. It may look ok, but as I noted in post #10 in that old thread, it looks like it's been de-roofed at some point, and these rigs aren't worth $5 grand when they have that big of a problem with them. But the one thing in favor of this rig is that the seller said he had an original Chinook blueprint for the camper unit. Try as I might, I've attempted to get guys to go over there to get copies of whatever he has, but the seller is not especially open to sharing what he has. And since the seller hasn't been able to sell it after all this time, that might be an indication that the rig has other major problems with it.

Thanks for the input. I'll keep looking. Gotta love this forum-lots of good friends here!

You're welcome. Consider joining our Chalet owners'/enthusiasts' forum (link below in my sig) - I'm a bit behind updating the big 'for sale' list there (which corresponds to this general city location map), but I'll get to it soon. If only I could win a lottery and hire a staff to keep it all updated on a weekly basis ....

Chalet #1426, built in 10/76. Strange details on the selling of this one, I saw it in the Reno Craigslist at $8 grand, but for less than a day after October 24th, and with a different set of photos (see one below) / different contact number. It got a shine-up for this latest round, and is now on ebay with a hefty markup. Hate to say it, it's overpriced by over twice what it's worth, considering its unrestored condition and the unmistakable rust.

You aren't aware of it because of the different presentation of it, but this is the same Chalet #1102 which you had in your post #46 in this thread. It was first featured here in this 2013 thread, where I told how the Seattle seller informed me that he had the original Chinook factory blueprint for it. That guy more or less continuously listed and relisted it up until October, and then it showed up in Florida. I never knew it had no interior, so it was never worth the original $5 grand asking price or the $500 price increase, and now it certainly isn't worth $5 grand (as seen in the other parallel listing for it https://orlando.craigslist.org/cto/5899429405.html ). That's basically what these sell for when they are fully equipped but modded too far out of collectible value range.

If this is a new seller, I wonder if he got the blueprint. He doesn't respond to emails sent in via the temporary Craigslist email addresses.

Chalet #1248, never did get a build date from the seller, though. Being parked in the WA state rainforest for so long probably renders this one to be a parts truck and not much more.

While we're at it, two others on ebay: This http://www.ebay.com/itm/252991847468 is the 6th listing for Chalet #0480 since April 15th. The seller originally misidentified it as #0007 but finally got around to showing the serial # plate and VIN tag in this listing. And this other one http://www.ebay.com/itm/292152311836 showed up for the first time yesterday, no reply yet from the seller on what its serial # and build date is.

For those who forget, we identify these by the 4 digit serial # on the back, as seen in this photo composite of my former Chalet #1747.

This is Chalet #0580, the "dusty field find" one I alerted folks to right around a year ago right here. Was flipped through one other seller almost immediately, and the current owner is a member of the CK5 forum with a re-build thread on it, but I guess he lost interest.

Actually not Chalet #0007, despite what the seller claims, and he knows better than that, anyway. I'm guessing that out of laziness, he's copied 'n pasted his very first ebay listing of this one from mid April. He re-listed it 5 more times through to mid June, and now this latest one is his 7th listing. I never got a reply from him via ebay's messaging system on what the serial number was, nor could I prompt him to post one more photo of the serial number plate, but one of our forum members who's actively looking to buy one of these got a photo of the plate out of an associate of his during the 4th listing, it is actually Chalet #0480 built in 7/76. In the 5th listing, the seller didn't say it was #7 anymore, just that it was a "barn find."

Mightly optimistic price on it this whole time, junkers like this tend not to sell any higher than maybe $1500. One of our guys was speculating that the passenger side rear quarter had been replaced at some point since it has the later-years square fuel filler door while original '76s had the round caps. Not a good sign overall on the quality of the body.

While I know of this one, I never turn down alerts about these since my so-so search links do miss many Craigslist ads and even some ebay listings.

Took me a while to find the time to look this one up in my pile of references. It's Chalet #0653, built in 8/76.

Primo? 'Fraid not. I have pics of when I first spotted it in a Roscommon MI Craigslist ad for $5500 in June 2010, and from the looks of it now, essentially no restoration work has been done to it beyond swapping out the aftermarket chrome spoke wheels for rallys. Same non-original camper area carpet, same house-style doorknob on the camper door, same skewed rear bumper with the rumples on the top passenger side, same scuffed-up area on the upper rear passenger side where a porch light was probably installed, same faded rear door decal.

As most hard-core car guy afficianados know, the money value in classics is in the properly-restored-to-factory-showroom-appearance vehicles. This ain't it, all it has going for it is a heckuva superficial spit-shine.

Around twice or a bit more than it was actually worth, compared to others in better or more restored condition that I've seen in recent years.

It's Chalet #0487, built in 8/76, which was previously listed by the prior owner last November for $2700 in the identical condition. Mighty optimistic price for that much rust.

It's been on Facebook Marketplace https://www.facebook.com/marketplace...74045203548988 since last September at that same asking price, which either might be a good indicator that the seller is a bit optimistic on his price for a much-modded-way-from-collector-value-factory-stock, or else it indicates how effective FB Marketplace is for selling vehicles.

Yep. Chalet #1221, built in 9/76.

The longer backstory is this is the same seller that succeeded (so far) in auctioning off the Michigan Chevy dealership Chalet #0429 'unrestored low miles time-capsule original' for $125,000 ... that had a used car dealership plate on the back. All other bidders dropped out after the $47,500 mark on that one, leaving only two guys who apparently had more money than God to bid on it. Either one of them could have bought the rig for cash from the seller for $59,900 (an unrealistic price, I thought) before it was placed in auction. Hence, the asking price for this one at $119k. I highly doubt they'll get that price, or anything particularly close to it. It has a variety of restoration faults going on which significantly affects the 'dealership showroom new appearance' collector value. At least the stripe color sequence error was somewhat corrected (in non-original hues compared to what's seen in GM brochures and magazine ads) from the way it was seen in its donk wheels debut video -- notice in the last few seconds of the video, its roof really wanted to take off flying: https://www.facebook.com/thesandmand...4405743572974/
