wierd engine sounds

im getting wierd engine sounds coming from what sounds like the pass. side. it sounds like detonation but its louder and it doesnt happen all the time. it happens when its its accelerating any faster than your grandma does, but when the engine is been running for like 15 minutes it doesnt do it- only a little sometimes. performance is the same so i dont think its a connecting rod. maybe one of my rockers is a little loose? i think it might be the torque converter or flywheel but i dont see any rub marks. since it stops after a while maybe something with the transmission?how fast to atf heat up? ill try to pull the valve cover tomorrow but for now i dont know. its a newer engine maybe 10-15k 350. in a 79 k10 and a t350.

Hey...ever come by the redding drag strip? if you do..look me up. Check your converter to flex plate bolts ans look for a cracked flex plate

Chico, get a mechanics stethoscope (or a reasonable substitute) and listen near the fuel pump, for that noise. Stock fuel pumps have a knack for breaking the return spring, causing the solid steel pushrod to "knock" at certain rpms'.

i have a electrical fuel pump.

Some of them have an emissions flap on the passenger side that goes between the exhaust manifold and the exhaust it works off the vacuum from the emissions system. It stays closed until the engine warms up and then opens. It could be leaking when its closed would sound like a exhaust leak or tick until it opened and let exhaust pass through.

i talked to a guy and he said its most likely detination. it doesnt help that my rockers are a little loose either
