Passenger Door is stuck shut.
Guys and Girls
did search and tried the remedies in the threads I found I picked up a 64 c10 at the start of this month and I have been collecting parts for it. I want to start breaking down the front end for the 72 crossmember I have but I cannot get the door to open. I have pulled the door panel and spray WD-40 and pb blaster on the latch inside the door . I've tried prying up on the door ,pulling hard and I can't get it open. Do you guys have anything other ideas? Thanks in advance! Chris |
Re: Passenger Door is stuck shut.
I guess the door is not stuck in the locked position. What does the linkage do when moving the inside door handle? How about a big kick with your boot.

Re: Passenger Door is stuck shut.
You might try loosening the hinges

Re: Passenger Door is stuck shut.
If both inside and outside handles won't open it, pull up and push down on the door lock many times and snap it to the top on the last one. My son had the same problem recently on the 65 GTO I gave him and a guy on the Pontiac forums told me (him) to do this. It worked!

Re: Passenger Door is stuck shut.
I pulled the seat belts from a mid 60s car at a yard. Needed to get the pass door open to get the outer belt bolt. Had someone push on the door release outside, and I laid on my back on the seat and kicked the door as hard as I could from the inside. Pop, door opened.

Three kicks for the inside and it popped open.. You guys are the best!
Thanks, Chris |
Re: Passenger Door is stuck shut.
My 66 sticks after sitting. I use a plastic wedge from a body trim kit to pry it open.

Re: Passenger Door is stuck shut.
Glad my trick worked! Wouldn't suggest it for a show car, but sometimes... brute force is the answer.

Re: Passenger Door is stuck shut.
I just bought this 64. Both doors are stuck shut. All the windows are up, and the side wings are latched. Tried raising up on the bottom corner while pushing the button and pulling no luck. Dont really want to tear up the door but dont know what to do

Re: Passenger Door is stuck shut.
Rustycrusty, I'd pull the back window (good excuse for a new seal) and crawl in there.

Re: Passenger Door is stuck shut.
First of all glad to be here. I'm kinda wondering if anyone knows where I could find both doors for my 63 c10?
