1967 K30 Longhorn 4x4 6.0 4l80 205 Build.

I bought this frame back in 2013 from Rusbuilt. We drove down to Tennessee from Ontario Canada in our 1968 suburban. It was a long loud flowmaster drone trip with the 3:73 gear and no OD. When we got back home.I parked the suburban for the year.
Anyways here I am 8 years later finally building it. I really didn't have the space till this year. I will be converting it to 4x4 adding 14 bolt with 4:56 gears and a locked Dana 60 front. I will be adding pitcures to catch up to where the frame is at this point. Once the frame is complete I will be moving the 1967 body over to the longhorn frame. When I built the truck 13 years ago I couldn't find a 1 ton frame so I converted the 1/2 ton frame to 3/4 ton. I used dana 60 rear and 8 bolt front. It has work well over the years but always at it 's weight limit.

Nice, that’s gonna be an awesome build. I’ve been on the hunt casually for a longhorn frame for a little bit now. They don’t come up for sale all my that often around here. Can’t wait to see it come together.

Going to have to load the pitcures one at a time. I have no idea why there flipping?
For.the front springs I decided to use 1973 spring length of 47". I need this truck to ride nice so I ordered Off Road Design Alcan springs. I had them keep the spring lift to a minimum should be around 2" . It's a work truck and the deck height needs to stay around 38". In the rear I used 1973 56" 2800lb springs . The hangers are k20 front and k30 rears with ORD HD shackles. The frame is currently sitting with a slight rake which is perfect. .

Isn't using the longer front springs in the stock front location going move your front axle back a few inches?

I had the centering pin placed at the correct spot for 1972 springs which is 22" from the main eye.

Thanks. I have spent lots of time reading 7dee2 s build. I am pretty far along on the build already. Posting the pitcures is really difficult for some reason they keep flipping..

Here are a few of the engine mounts. I decided to use 1973 up style because I wanted the improved engine mounts. I had to slice the top of the mounts off and shorten them. Once cut the flange was bolted into the frame it was then tacked in place. I welded them up on the bench. The engine crossmember is from ORD its the big block engine crossmember. I took my time using the frame alignment holes to make sure everything was square. The frame was kept level while fitting the crossmember.

Looks like you are pretty handy with metal work. Will be following your build. Regarding your pictures. If you upload to a windows computer, simply open them with paint and save. You can always rotate them with the program as well.

Did you build that LS engine crossmember largely from scratch? Damn fine work!

The crossmember is from Off Road Design. I am not that skilled LOL!

I have the engine set in place. Sitting pretty at 4.5° down relative to the frame. I had to place the transmission crossmember inside the frame rather than suspended under the frame like some 1981 up trucks come from the factory. The oils pan is close to the crossmember on the passenger front corner. I will be using thicker steel adapter plates and new engine mounts. That should fix the minimal clearance l have currently.

I got the lower tab of the cab mount modified. I copied all the front spring placement from a 1976 military frame. This is where the shackles landed. Not a problem. Just another thing to modify.

Cool build and looking forward to following along with it. I'm in the process of gathering parts for a 6.0L, 4L80E, NP205 swap along with some suspension upgrades.

Man I wish it was easier to post pitcures. So time consuming adding to this thread....just like building the truck haa. It's basically done as of now. I have a few loose ends like fuel lines and bleeding the brakes and its ready to work. I have been in the shop 7 days a week most days past midnight.

Well it's been working great for a year. Had a rear driveline operating angles that need to be resolved this winter. Much better now but I really need to lower the transfer case to further reduce the rear u joint angles. At least I can do 70mph now smoothly.
