8.8 Rear End that will mount up to a 1962 Chevy Pickup

2 Attachment(s)
Guys,

I have a Ford 8.8 Rear End that will mount up to a 1962 Chevy Pickup. She will bolt straight on! I used this on my truck before I changed to the 9 inch Ford Rear that I have now. Nodular iron.
The rear end is in good condition and has new brakes. The gear ratio was 3.08:1 Good road gear. Tight! No play in it. This came out of a police interceptor car. $100.00 green stamps! Includes everything you see in picture! Also will throw in the matching drive shaft in with it also. Buy her, slap her on, roast'em slap off! Well with a 3.08:1 you want be able to roast'em, but you will save gas!

Thanks,

I was miffed at 8.8, but now I see it is a blue oval, so I know why I didn't recognize the title. Sounds like a great deal, but I am afraid if I mix breeds my bowties will boycott me. Good luck with the sale.

Yea I should of stated that in the title. Yea....She's a Ford 8.8! See.... I can explain. Well....... uh....... Well she was free!
My Original rear end was wore out and this was a perfect fit for the time. Well I quess I can say I have a mix-breed! A mutt! But you know..... She's my mutt; and by gosh I love that ole truck! Ha Ha.
She only has a Ford Mustang IFS, and a Ford Rear End.

But....... Don't you just love seeing those Ford Trucks with Chevy Engines in them!!!!!! It's like they know better!!

I asked my father and he thinks it was a 1985 Ford LTD Crown Victoria.
Mid 80's....

Some were posi, and some were not.
Some had disk brakes, and some had drums.
My rear end has Drum Brakes.
Some had bigger brakes as well. Not an expert, but just have alot of Ford Buddies! Sorry, I still show my CHEVY PRIDE!
Mustangs were also different.

History
Ford began using the 8.8" axle in Rangers circa 1986 on "incomplete vehicles" aka "chassis
cabs", but the 8.8" axles only became common in Rangers with the
introduction of the 4.0L V6 in mid-1990. It began appearing in Explorers (and Mazda's Navajo
twin) in 1991. It has also been used in 4.0L Aerostars (2wd ONLY, the 4.0 AWD Aerostars,
strangely, are equipped with the 7.5" axle), From mid'84-up F-150 (Except for 5.4liter "Lightnings
and Some 4x4 Supercabs which are equipped with the heavier-duty 9.75" rear axle) '84-1/2 on
Full-size Broncos, and E-150 Econoline vans.
The 8.8 is also used in other Ford products such as Mustangs, Thunderbirds ("solid axle" '87-88
with 2.3 turbo engine and 5.0 "Sport" models), Crown Victorias and their equivelent Mercury and
Lincoln products. However, because of their different suspensions, they make undesirable
choices for swapping into a Ranger (unless you're looking to also swap to a four-link rear
suspension for airbags and such).
An IRS version also appeared in the '89-97 Thunderbird, Mercury Cougar, (Though there is also
a 7.5" IRS in some V6 cars), the Lincoln Mark VIII and finally
a very similar IRS suspension was adapted for the Mustang Cobra.
A wide range of gear ratios is available, from 3.08's up to 5.13's. An equally wide array of
differentials is also available from open carriers to limited slips to lockers and spools.
8.8" axles can have either 28-spline or 31-spline axles.
All car applications use 28-spline axles, all truck applications use 31-spline axles.
axle shafts EXCEPT Rangers, which use 28-spline axles, however even Exceptions have
Exceptions, FX4 Rangers 99-current with 4.10 or 4.56 axle ratios are built with 31-spline axles.
Gear sets are interchangeable between axles, regardless of the spline count. Differentials,
however, are not.

I measured the rear today 54 1/2.
I had 15X10 Cragers and Hides on them when I had her on my truck before the 9 was shoe horned.
