quick question about tranny fluid

ok, my gmc has a 4 speed with granny low, guys at auto zone say it takes 80 wt gear oil, but they say 1 1/2 quarts, is this correct? another one, i cant find the plug on my rear diff, how do you check/add fluid? one more, any one know the cappacity for the transfer case? i usualy just put fluid in till it ocmes out the hole (do the same with the tranny, but i guess im wrong)

Rear end, tranny and t-case all use gear oil, and all fill until it runs out the fill hole. Not sure of capacities. With the 465, it is handier to pull the fill plug, then pull the shifter handle and pour the oil in through the shifter hole until it runs out the fill hole.

Your plug on the diff should be either on the pan on back or passenger side close to the pinion. If you want to drain it, you have to pull the pan and reinstall with a new gasket. You fill it till it runs out, just like the others.
