Bed cutting question.
 

In most of the threads I've seen on here where someone is cutting their bed down from long to short they all seem to be using a small square type of clamp that holds both bed pieces together. What is this clamp and where would I find them? I am planing on cutting my bed down in the future and would like to have all the needed hardware in advance. Any info. would be great, thanks Shawn:chevy:

Reading the term "buttwelding clamps" immediately transported me to those days where my buddies and I would watch Beavis and Butthead and drink bear all day long and still not get enough of either.

lol, that does sound funny. i was wondering the same thing on the name of these. do they work better than cleco pins?

hmm. I thought what you had pictured were clecos? are you referring to the 90 on the end....

what i pictured were cleco pins, right? i was wondering if they were better than the buttwelding clamps..

With cleco's you have to have an over lap in the panel and that leads to rust in-between the panels. The butt clamps let you but weld the panels together so when is all said and done you can treat both sides of the weld for better protection.

Kevin,
When you are cutting down a bed floor, do you weld the top or bottom side or both? How much time would you estimate it takes to weld the bed floor and grind it. I know you are a lot faster than most but in talking to a local welder, he had no idea how long it would take and would only give me an estimate of time and materials. Thanks. Joel
