Trans Shield?

Can you fit a trans shield to a TH400 while it is in the truck? It's a 1968 low hump. I'd prefer a shield over a blanket due to heat on the street.

Re: Trans Shield?

Will depend on the shield and the height of the trans. Some fit closer than others. You may be able to drop the cross member and slide it up from the back. Do you know how much room you have between the trans and the floor?

Not sure about a TH400, but I had to lower my TH350 on the back to do mine the time it was in the truck still, also low hump.

With my 4l80e, I think a blanket would fit since it can hug the irregular shape, but I don't think the shield would fit just based on eyeing it.

I've not measured it yet but I like the look of this one:

I run a TCI, pretty much the same as that Hughes.

I don't have a stock tunnel but I have slid mine on from the rear.

There is about an inch and a quarter between the floor and the trans. How much space do I need?

I've never been able to install a trans shield without either dropping the trans down, or have a full access removable trans tunnel. I install trans blankets routinely for customers without removing the transmission. I just need to make sure I can access the top two trans/engine block bolts to secure the tabs.
