6L80 Fitment
 

I’ve had a few guys mention that even with the hi hump, the 6L80 might still have clearance issues? I’ve looked up a few different threads but they were older and no one really had much info on it back then.

I should know in the near future as a 6l90 is going in my K10.

Hi hump will work so long as you get the engine down as low as possible...try and keep the drive line angle as flat as possible....

Also remember to use a sump that keeps the bottom of the sump above to, or level with, the bottom of the cross member...CTS-V is a good choice, assuming you are usng an LS style engine.

Using speed engineering oil pan for LS.

I had to go with a high hump and my engine sits as low as possible in a stock truck

I have Early Classic Enterprises engine mounts and trans cross member. I just massaged my low hump to make it more round on top. I did fold the flange where the firewall and hump meet. I have about 1" between the trans and the hump. its been that way for 8 years with no problems. Unless you have raised the motor I cant see a major problem.

6l90 here and all I had to do was cut out lip where firewall meets floor. I used the low hump

I have a high hump '64' with Early Classic engine and trans mounts and still have 3-4 inches of clearance. The 6L80 looks a bit larger in daimeter than my 4L60E but I can't imagine I would have fitment problems.

Nice having 2 extra gears, but it is not as strong as the 4L60 or 4L80.
They came out with a 6L90 shortly after the 6L80. Maybe this fixed some of the issues they had with the 6L80?
