If you have 240v power, a true 2-stage 5hp pump in the 15-20 cfm range is the best hot rod compressor for a home shop. If that is a 1 stage, less than 10 cfm pump, I wouldn't bother rebuilding it unless it is just for filling tires or you only had 120v power.

Slightly off topic, the best "old" pumps out there to look for: Champion, Kellogg, Quincy, or Saylor-Bealle. They all make "real" CFM, run quiet, and are rebuildable for many generations.
