Well here's the thing fellas. When i go over any sorta real big angled driveways at an angle or anything that causes the truck to kinda twist like that my bed seems to rub those couple bolts up near the top/front of the bed on the back of my cab. It's taken off a layer of paint from both sides and i had the thing not painted not too long ago. Any thoughts as to why it's doing this?
Frame flex? umm i dunno whats up with it. new wood bed and all new bed stuff back there so i cant quite figure it out.

Sounds like it might be weak cab mounts. Might be the cab moving and not the bed.

possible but i replaced them with poly ones about a year ago when i bought the truck, it was my first new toy

Can you move the bed back farther away from the cab? I asked how far back the bed should be mounted awhile ago, and all the replies said at least an inch back from the middle of the cab.

It's at least an inch back, i thought that too at first, but it's all the way back, i set it up that way when i redid the bed.

Are the nuts tight on the bed mount bolts?

yep, like i said we did it lately. the bed got done in march when i got home, tightened it all with pneumatic and the thing is solid as all heck.

Well I will throw this out for a thought... I believe it is your poly mounts. Why? Because they don't have any give and your frame is made to flex....... Therefor when your frame flexes in two different directions the mounts don't give to minimize the movement of the cab and front clip. I also think that they tear up bodies for the same reason... I know there is a bunch of guys out there with the poly bushings that havn't had any problems, but I have seen at least 3 trucks with the bolts pulled right through the floor with them. GM designed these trucks to flex and if you don't want your cab to move as much when you are on uneven surfaces, go back to the rubber mounts.... WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

well thanks for that one Wes, didnt quite think of it like that. The cab on mine is in great shape as it's a cali truck with no rust. might switch to rubber i suppose later. hope for now it dont mess my cab up. its all stricktly street drivin so i can hope!

I think WES hit the nail right on the top of the head. Poly mounts don't have as much cushion in them, they are more ridged. The truck frame has some flex, thats why I don't quite understand "boxing" the frame some people talk about, but maybe its a racing thing...........
