I have a 350 in my truck, with a edelbrock 1406 carb, and a 14x3 open element air cleaner sitting on the stock air cleaner spacer above the carb. My problem is, that whenever i drive it for a little while in the rain, it has a hard time starting back up. I will have to crank the motor over about 5 times as long as usual, and it dosen't want to idle just after you get it started. I'm guessing this is because it is getting water sucked into the air cleaner. I THINK that it isn't water in the distriubtor because it didn't do this with the stock air cleaner, and the engine proably wouldn't run at all with water in there. So, is this a problem that i just have to live with, or is there any way that i can keep water out of there?

You might want to check if your distributor cap, coil and wires are dirty or dusty, it could be moisure causing crossfire and making it hard to start.

Yeah i'd have to agree with Denny, whenever i go through a big puddle and i get water on any of my ignition system components, (i think its my distributer) my engine bogs down and i have to rev it a bit to keep it from stalling.

deffinately check the distributer......if it's wet....take a blow dryer to it. Maybe check the solenoid coil????I dunno....maybe.

cap/rotor and maybe wires need chainged. Classic symptoms.

Ok, i was planning on giving it a tune-up anyway. Maybe it happening after i swapped air cleaners is just a concidince (sp?).
