72 cab on 70 frame questions

I finally got everything together and swapped cabs on my truck. I put the cab off a 72 on my 70 frame. 2 questions immediately arise.
1. What do I need to get for my carb to get the throttle cable (instead of rod) hooked to the carb.

2. My gas tank has only a single line coming out the sending unit to fuel the engine. The new tank has 2 lines coming out and 3 going thru the cab floor. What do I hook up, what don't I or would it be easier to just put my old tank in there?

Now to the good part, the pics.

First I got the donor cab ready to come off. Then I pulled the inner fenders, grill, front bumper, fenders and hood off of my truck.

Then pulled the cab off my truck with my younger brother's help. Had to get someone a little more nimble than my fat a$$ to hang the chainfall out of the tree.

Finally dropped the new cab on my frame. Made a few connections, the rest will
have to wait til tomorrow. Not too shabby for a hard days work.

The big line is the supply,one is return,and one is a vent I think.You could just swap the sender

As for your throttle, can't you pull your pedal assembly out of your old cab and install it in the new cab? I think it all un-bolts, except for a bracket that is welded in.

The fuel tanks should swap out too. I'm actually going to be using a pre-evaporative emision control tank in my 72, because I can't find a good clean 72 tank.... oh, wait... your coming up here... will there be room for the tank next to the mud bugs

For the carb you will need the bracket that goes on the carb to hold the throttle cable, kind of like the TH350 trans kick down cable, and the little ball that bolts to the arm of the carb and clips to the end of the cable. Most auto parts have the bracket in the custom chrome parts section and the ball in the help section

Maybe I'm misinterpreting things here... Krue has all of that originally on his 1970 GMC. He has swapped a 1972 cab. He will need the hook-ups to his throttle and carb. I think he can transfer his 1970 linkage to the 1972 cab and run like he has every day with out any problem. The deal is that his year uses a cable hook-up and 1972 uses a linkage hook-up. He should be able to convert the two, and get the 1970 with the 1972 cab he installed.

I thought he took off a 70 cab put a 72 cab on. If that is the case the 67-70 rod style throttle will not work in a 71-72 cab without modes the pedals are in different locations on the fire wall. 67-70 has cut out for the rod and the 71-72 has a small square hole for the cable. If it is a 72 cab the easiest thing to do would be get a 72 pedal and assembly and us it.

Ahhh yes, I was messed up on cable and linkage between the years, makes me show my memory loss...

Why couldn't krue just transfer everything he is using in the 1970? Holes and linkage should not be that hard to transfer or fabricate.

i did almost the same swap the base truck was a 72 and i used a 69 cab. i used my tank from the 72. i dont use the return because im not running a stock fuel pump but i used the vent tube and what not that was in the b pillar on the 72 cab. i decided after a few beers that i would be much easier to just use the pedal and rod assembly from the 69 i just had to tweak the rod a bit to have it hook up to my carb

Don all I have to do is bolt a little ball for the cable to clip onto my carb. I want to stay with the 72's hanging style gas pedal becuz my 70 pedal has to have the balls on the floor to mount to. Currently I don't even have a pedal for it...well I didn't until I swapped cabs.

I have the front cap (minus inner fenders) back on, hopefully I will feel like finishing it when I get off work in the morning.

Well I finished hooking everything up this afternoon and other than the bumper and inner fenders I am done. Drove it to work tonight, after adjusting the rod between the brake booster and the m/c everything works good. It's a lot quieter in the cab now, not nearly as much wind noise.
Did find another difference in the cabs, I don't know if it is due to the difference in years or between a/c and non-a/c cab, but the screw in the firewall that the ground strap from the engine hooks to is about 2 inches higher on the 72 non-a/c cab than on the 70 a/c cab.
