'72 Suburban body removal

I posted this in the paint and body section first. Someone over there suggested I post it here also.

Hey guys, I'm planning the frame-off on my '72 burb. Couple of questions:

1) How heavy is a completely stripped burb body? Can a few guys lift it off, or will it require some equipment?

2) Is the paint and body work normally done with the body on or off the chassis?

Basically, I would like to do the chassis and mechanical work in my garage while the paint and body is being done. I'm trying to figure out the proper order to do things. I know unexpected things are going to come up, but I want to start off with as detailed a plan as possible. Little help please. Thanks.

See if this link works for you. I did a body swap a few years ago for a fellow truck nut. We used 4 come-alongs to do the lifting and my barn to do the holding up. It was very easy to do. I think you will get the picture if I got the link right.
