A stock '68 grill on a '69 longhorn???? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Has anyone ever seen this kind of thing before? The only case that comes to mind is Fast's old dump truck, but it only had a few features from the previouse year...not everything.
This is a portion of an e-mail I got from a Longhorn owner the other day. I am waiting for him to share his V.I.N. with me. I suspect it to be a very early '69. Like within the first couple hundred.

pink slip can say anything it wants, VIN tag will have 8 as the year digit(5th digit)

which dumptruck you talking about ? wasnt a 69, it was a CS338S truck, 6 cyl 1 ton chassis cab 68 St Louis, the 67 C30 was same also

there were longhorns in 68, we just dont have info on how many 20 ones were sold, only the 30 ones

whast his VIN number on this '69' one ?

I was refering to your '68 with the '67 arm rests and stuff.
The title and vin match, I am waiting to hear back from him.
As for '68 Longhorns...213 one tons, and 1902 in the 3/4 tons.
He says it has the 50'th paint scheme too.

he got it from the original owner, and he said nothing about that. Also, the Longhorn badge is in the '68 location...which is a one year only location.
I'm thinking the 50th interior package was only in '68 too...but I am unsure.

the other odd thing is the fact that the trim on the sides has the woodgrain...which says '69 to me...while the rest of the truck says '68... Completely confuzed here.

Longhornmail is very helpful and an assett to this board!!! Sure, he posts alot, but he has alot of valuable information to share!! If I knew everything, I wouldn't need to come to this board, I come here to ask questions and usually get good advice. When I can, I answer someone elses questions. I for 1 apreciate all the advice Andy has given, both in topics I've posted and have gotten answers from topics others have posted.

everyone has thier own areas of expertise, obviously some people here are going to be english teachers. This is a TRUCK board, NOT English class. Now, I don't see you adding anything to the thread. Debates over whether something happened or not is cool, because we're trying to get to the bottom of it. You guys just seem to be compensating for a lack of truck knowledge by showing off how good you are in spelling bees.

Yes, I have alot of posts, yes, I do read 90% of the threads, and I do respond normally with prudent information and a little humor that I feel most of us enjoy. I will ocasionally get into a heated discussion, but, I have the respect to not bash people on here, (I'll e-mail some one if I honestly have a problem) and I will be the first to admit if I was wrong on something. I feel welcome here, and I do feel I helped alot of people. Actions speak for them selves. I get E-mail all the time with a personal thanks from board members, or people who are not members, but have been reading 'in the shadows'. Between this site, the other 3 I belong to, and my 2 web sites, I normally get about 50 e-mails a day. 99% are positive.
If you have a question, post it. Almost every question gets answered. Be it how to do a mod, or how to post a pic.

The Freephoto-i link at the top of your screen is an easy to use on line photo host that many of us use, that will host your pics. Yahoo, geo-Cities and Angel-Fire will not host them. Also, if you were to look in my signiture, you'll see I am willing to post pics for anyone on here. I have posted 12 oics in one thread for one person. I go out of my way to help this group of people sometimes.

wow this got interesting in a negative way, i shouldnt have repsonded to this thread i dont think, theres nothing negative that I can think of or say about Andy and I have learned quite a bit of new info from him in here, i think he has more actual experience with these trucks and therefore knows more regarding hem than i do, i dont really know that much

This is a TRUCK board, NOT English class. Now, I don't see you adding anything to the thread. Debates over whether something happened or not is cool, because we're trying to get to the bottom of it. You guys just seem to be compensating for a lack of truck knowledge by showing off how good you are in spelling bees.
