Not about a Truck, 348 in a 60 Impala..
Gonna be working on a 60 Impala..has a 348 in it.. replacing it with another 348 actually, matched up with a 2 speed powerslide. Anything special I should watch out for with this motor? Anything out of the ordinary anybody can think of? The powerglide just a standard powerglide that chevy used later on..nothing different? Any help is appreciated...Thanks Guys!!

Had 348 in second car I owned. 58 Impala. Nothing special on that engine. Was a work horse back then used for big trucks etc. Predicessor to the 409. Would not try to make it into a high performance engine but just fine for crusing and everyday driver. Mates up to the powergilde just fine---originally had a "turboglide" trans which is a piece of crap. Good luck~~Huck

Dad had a 58 Impala convertible with a tri-power 348 and a powerglide (his favorite subject)..........he said it ran pretty good, was originally a 4bbl, and he changed it to 3 deuces.......and he also said it ran way better as tri-power than it did with a 4bbl.
the powerglide also had a good reputation.

Jefe,
I have a website called, "The 348/409 Chevrolet forum" that might interest you. http://www.network54.com/Hide/Forum/187005 At the bottom of every page are links to information for the 348/409's and check the FAQ page for a list of vendors that sell parts for them. Any questions you have will probably be easily answered by the "regulars" over there on the message board. We have some experts there. Some used to race the 409's back in the day. BTW, I have a '63 400hp 409 in my 66 Chevelle. Yeeehaw!
