Re: Mar 5, Sunday, What you get done this weeked

Took a rear bumper off a parts truck and put it on the beater.

Installed a lift kit on a new Dodge diesel truck.

Pulled the front clip off my next truck buildup to begin the crossmember swap and frame and firewall detail.

Worked 24 hours Sunday.

Re: Mar 5, Sunday, What you get done this weeked

Theres one of those camo painted chevy trucks lives near me over here in the UK, ex USAF. I once nearly bought a proper American cop car (no idea what it was, probably a Caprice) from Greenham Common airbase and my room-mate at the time drove a US spec VW rabbit he'd bought off an airman who didn't want to ship it back home. I used to visit Greenham Common base for my job back in the mid/late 80's when the cruise missiles were based there (and the dirty smelly hippies were camping outside) was just like being in the US on base, very weird!

Re: Mar 5, Sunday, What you get done this weeked

I finished installing my door pins, but didn't get to wiring them yet. I cleaned my floor mat. Hosed out the floor boards and worked to remove the 39 yrs of sun-baked manure.

Sunday I sparked up the grill surrounds and headlight bezels with some rattle-can wheel silver. Noticed that my brush gaurd used to be OD green. Guess it wasn't a dealer add on. Must have happened some time later. Also managed to finish a bottle of Cañon City Reisling with my wife and an old friend of ours.

I got nothing done to the truck as it is still in storage, I did however clean out its new home at our new house so I am ready for spring to drive it to the house.

Re: Mar 5, Sunday, What you get done this weeked

I put the new Urethane bushings under my K5 and aligned the body and doors. I also put the 68 front clip on it and tried to align it, but that is for another weekend. I pulled the rubber floor mat out and cleaned up the floor an assesed the rust. Well, for AZ it is rust, back east it would look like near perfect. I need to do rockers, inner panel and maybe a small part of the floor leading into the rockers. It looks like the roof seal leaked? There is zero rust anywhere else, so I am wondering what happened? I also sized up the rocker boxes. No rust, because the AZ game and fish cut them out back in 72 to put two additional saddle tanks on it!! I also have a custom 25 Gallon fuel tank in the back, I guess they didn't want to run out of gas in the boonies. I think it will be cake, just drill holes and weld, cause they cut em out with surgical precision. I also scrounged some parts off the 3/4 ton lawn ornament. I am patiently waiting for the new Urethane bushings for the swing arms on the 67. I am using a pair of arms off of a 3/4 ton donor. They look the same (length, etc) except they have plates riveted to the top and bottom to make them more rigid. With the bushings installed they'll make their way to the 67 SWB w/454 cause I need all the help I can get in the rigid department with all those horses!! I am using the 3/4 ton rear springs with some lowering blocks to help the nosebleed ride. I figure the ride will be stiff, but again it needs to be to keep from tweeking under the torque. I thought about the 3/4 ton fronts as well cutting one coil, but not sure. Anyways the single and low double digit weather seems to be gone at least for now, so I'll be spending more evenings and weekends outside! I need to get the 454/700R4 into my 454 SS project soon, as that looks too cool to be in pieces in the garage!! I put the 20's on it a month ago and I can't wait to smoke the balognas!!

Re: Mar 5, Sunday, What you get done this weeked

Installed real tail lights on the truck so I don't get rear ended. Pulled the Engine and tranny from the mustang.

Wanted to do more on Sunday but the crappy weather was bringing me down. Wish I had an enclosed garage. Oh well, summer's coming soon.

Re: Mar 5, Sunday, What you get done this weeked

Worked Sat morning, off Sunday. I got the front fenders/grill back on the '69, filled gas neck hole and cut out rust/welded new metal on cab corner, and primed the back of the cab (great weather this weekend). Got engine ready to go, just have to get some plugs for the manifold, pour in some oil, and plumb the fuel cell. I also polished the Silverado with Zaino, it is great stuff. Also washed sister's car and engine.

Re: Mar 5, Sunday, What you get done this weeked

I worked this weekend 12 hour nights fun fun. last weekend a buddy and I rode up to Virginia to 1971swblt1373posi's place and picked up my parts truck, no pic.s yet but some real soon. The trip would have been great except for the fact that on the way up I came down with a stomach bug and had the ****s most of the 7 hour ride up and back. that stunk literely. I also lost a loading ramp somewhere between home and North carolina. But we got her home and today I started turning wrenches. Can't wait to get the parts on my truck. I'm putting the rearend (its a 3:73 posi) on mine, the exhuast system, and some of the other goodies I got with it on my truck, then I'm going to sale it and get it out of the yard.

Re: Mar 5, Sunday, What you get done this weeked

I lost a ramp and I have heck getting cars on it with the shorter replacement, ask quksilver, he and I had to rachet strap my 67 CST I got from him onto the trailer. That was a fun 1.5 hours!! I love parts trucks, because you can always find stuff you didn't need but want and you didn't know it till you saw it!!

Re: Mar 5, Sunday, What you get done this weeked

Starting taking apart the 84 burb I got for parts. Finally decided on a paint color for my 70GMC and ordered it. Will be "Bright Aqua Pearl". Hoping to spray on the sealer this weekend. Still hoping to have this in paint by Spring.

You not too far off, it was above freezing today and some of it started to melt away. We need a nice slow melt or else we get major flooding issues. Will be all gone in a couple of weeks. It takes until late June early July though before you can swim comfortably.

Down here if the water is below 80 degrees (F), it is torture. I imagine anything above 50 is comforatble to you folks

No we like are water a little warmer than 50, we sell alot of propane to pool heaters in the spring and fall to warm the pools up, most people like them around 70, we have one customer that likes it closer to 100. There are even a few polar plunges in the area, I can't imagine how it is fun to cut a hole in the ice and jump in, but hey it is for charity.

Fixed my blown head gasket, installed new plugs and wires and a 1" carb spacer. Runs real nice down the freeway now.
